I once had a bee inside my closed helmet at highway speed.. must've been in my dash or on my shirt or something, shielded from the wind as I entered the highway. But then at 110km/h this thing starts panicking and bumping around trying to get out. Too much traffic to pull over quickly so I just sat upright into the wind, opened the visor wide and closed my eyes for a second.. Thankfully it worked. I wish it were a spider instead though as they don't bother me as much.. I'll take a hunstman running all over me at mach 3 compared to flying insects/roaches/bees any day

There are tonnes of ducks where I live. Like you cannot drive 5 metres down the main street without seeing another group of them on the side of the road, doing whatever it is that ducks do in their spare time. You almost always have to stop for at least a couple of them. I've only ever seen one who didn't make it across once, so evidently everybody does stop for them. I reckon the one that didn't make might have been taken out by a truck because you can't really stop those on a dime.

I honestly think that the car that got rear ended was applying the brakes to maintain the speed, as the road seems to be sloping down, then when the lights changed they either were unable to judge distance and speed and felt that they were able to stop behind the white line (which they weren't, heck they stopped almost half way through the intersection), and were rear ended with the traffic lights still orange or they panicked and instead of hitting the accelerator they ended up pushing down harder on the brake pedal. And that is giving them the benefit of the doubt, that they didn't do this to get rear ended on purpose.

@notsureyou Oh, I didn't think it was deliberate - just unfortunate that he was already braking. Brake lights are good at warning that you're slowing down, but they pretty piss-poor at showing when you're changing from "barely caressing the pedal to maintain speed" to "push it through the floor." Obviously, the tradie was following a touch too closely, but even if he'd been a little further back, I suspect it would have ended up just the same.

The bottom line is that it was unnecessary and dangerous to break that hard when the lights had just turned to orange. Correct procedure should have been to progress through the intersection and maintain speed. I agree that the ute was following too closely.

I only see straight through, not right. The camera car was in the left lane the whole time. The blue car moved left to join them. I'm guessing the single lane on the exit of the roundabout may have confused then blue car driver, but definitely their fault still for moving into the occupied left lane.

@@tin2001 I reckon that's the 3rd exit; The first is when the clip starts and the cammer passes another before exiting. You don't see too many circles where the 3rd exit isn't considered a right hand turn. I'm not familiar with that intersection though.

It wasn't a right turn. The cam car was following the general direction of the roundabout but in the left lane. Cam car then went to exit down that road (which is a single lane road and can only be accessed from the left lane of the roundabout). The VW then cuts across from the right lane to the roundabout left exit (in front of the cam car). VW is totally in the wrong. It becomes a lot clearer looking at it on Google maps.

It's a stupid roundabout in Yatala Qld. VW is in a right turn only lane but from the drivers perspective it looks like that exit is a right turn exit, and catches a lot of people out. VW still didn't indicate they were exiting though, would've been helpful.
