This is one of Adelaide's brilliant examples of when two lanes suddenly merge into one, in classic hick town design. In this case round a slight bend just at the end of Belair Rd past Mitcham Shopping Centre. Cars waiting to turn right get stuck because of a combination of oncoming traffic and the train line gates going down for our antiquated trains. I always make sure I stick to the left lane here, there's always fuckwits causing a mischief in the right, and when they see the cars stopped up in the right line they try to force their way back in to the left lane. This fella had no idea of the road context nor more than 10-20m vision ahead.

I see this every day as a mechanic and motorist.These fool's in there overloaded,unstable utes and four wheel drives.Ultimate examples of skill been slapped in the face of reallity.We just installed a new 5 tonne and 4 tonne hoist to cope with these idiots, 4 tonne saftey kicked in and would not lift a 80 series landcruiser ( height barley got through the door) Factory standard they are unstable and brakes are inadequate, then they want lift kits,bullbars,winches,roofracks and any crap they can bolt on......Then you get the hero attitude. estimated a narvara weight at work (3.5 tonne hoist struggled and was dangerous) this thing had never been further than a bunning's carpark speedhump) Rta should leave the truckies alone and weight scale these death traps.Time and place for everything. What I learned from this video: never assume i) the driver ahead of you won't slam on the brakes, ii) drivers to your left in a roundabout will yield, iii) your green light means anything to other drivers, iv) the road is clear when your vision is obstructed, v) dual white lines on blind corners mean the same to other drivers as to you, vi) bikers know what they're doing, and vii) anybody else takes driving safely seriously. This video, more than any of your other posts, shows the carnage on our roads. I'm sure I'm a better driver for watching over the years.

Amazing instant karma at 11:15 ! If you're only watching on a phone you'll never see it, I had to stand pretty close to my 100" projector screen to catch this, but after the motorcycle pulls in front of the white car (who must have honked their horn or something) the cyclist turns around and gives them the finger with their arm extended for a good three seconds, turning around just in time to see the blue car they're about to slam into. It's fantastic! XD

It worries me that there are so many bad drivers out there. I’m more worried than ever these days of being rear ended by distracted idiots. By the way a 4kg fire extinguisher can be had for about $60. I carry one with me in both my cars. The 1 or 1.5kg are not much good for vehicle fires as they run dry too quickly.

@leewright4941 9 ай бұрын
Yeah I tried to put out a dumped stolen car with a 1kg. It went out but lit up again. Someone told me you really need to disconnect the battery or it will keep shorting and catching. It was under the dashboard so it was probably electrical. I might have had better luck if the fire was elsewhere but you only get maybe 5 secs out of an Aldi 1KG so I think I'll go for a bigger one.
@aussie8114

@@leewright4941 That’s the problem. A 1 kg may put out the small initial flame but there will be nothing left to put out the reignited flames. 4.5 kg is a good size. I have one in each car and 2 in the house, plus a 9kg in the garage. They’re very good value in my opinion. Even the big 9kg was only $100.

Shock sets in rapidly. The old bus driver is a symptom of the requirement for older people to continue driving in the heavy transport industry...including passenger service. The younger ones find it difficult and expensive to get the appropriate licences.. so the old ones have to keep on trucking. USA requires 250,000 HT drivers in the next 5 years to replace the retirees....

@@JohnSmith-yv6eq when you take up any sort of apprenticeship or any other long term investment in your future career, the first few years you might not be able to get any significant return on your investment as opposed to other professions. Sure, this has always been the case, but what hasn't always been the case is these expensive rents and ordinary suburban homes out in the sticks costing up to a million bucks. Not to mention trying to figure out which jobs you won't be replaced by a robot, AI, offshoring or high immigration within the next 10 years. An interesting topic. I had never considered how many people die on the roads in Australia per year. My quick research shows this: • In Australia in 2022, there were 1192 fatalities on the road, which is 4.6 per 100000 population. • In the United States in 2022, there were 42795 fatalities on the road, which is about 12.9 per 100000 population. • In Japan in 2022, there were 2610 fatalities on the road, which is about 2.1 per 100000 population. • In France in 2022, there were 3260 fatalities on the road, accounting for about 5 per 100000 population. • In India in 2022, there were 41012 fatalities on roads, which is about 2.9 per 100000 population. • In Great Britain in 2022, there were 1695 fatalities on roads, which is about 2.8 per 100000 population. • For Russia, 2020 is the most current data I could find, showing 16152 deaths on the roads, accounting for about 11.2 of 100000 population.

@@jovetj That is very interesting. Russia and the US being so high is no surprise but it is surprising that the US outdoes Russia per head. Then again, the US is completely car based with grid roads everywhere. I was surprised by India being so low per capita but I guess they just have a really high population and you don't see as many cars go fast there (although I am sure they would have the highest pedestrian fatality rate as far as train tracks go). In the UK, most of the streets are quite narrow so lower speed limits but the roads connecting the cities seem to be better designed. They don't have stroads like the US and Australia do.

@@jovetj you can always delve deeper to tell a more complex story. I suppose with those types of figures, there should not be considered a discernible difference between 4.2 and 5.0, but when one figure is 10 times another figure, there are definitely things that can be inferred. I am addicted to these channels, but the Russian and the US car crash compilations are particularly brutal. The US roads can be described as "people testing the idea of unstoppable force vs immovable object and realizing the results of thinking in such a way". Russian road accidents can simply be described as "vodka on ice". They don't have the grid problem the US has, but they have poorer quality roads over very long distances and often they are quite dark and icy. And Australian car crashes can simply be described as "utes on ice".
