This is one of Adelaide's brilliant examples of when two lanes suddenly merge into one, in classic hick town design. In this case round a slight bend just at the end of Belair Rd past Mitcham Shopping Centre. Cars waiting to turn right get stuck because of a combination of oncoming traffic and the train line gates going down for our antiquated trains. I always make sure I stick to the left lane here, there's always fuckwits causing a mischief in the right, and when they see the cars stopped up in the right line they try to force their way back in to the left lane. This fella had no idea of the road context nor more than 10-20m vision ahead.

He was (kinda saved the day), although the whole thing puzzles me - it's EXTREMELY RARE for cars to catch fire as a result of a collision (said by an SA CFS volunteer of several decades, with more than a thousand incident responses under his belt). Only thing that would start to make sense is he'd "just filled up" - right to the cap - and the filler hose burst on impact, but even then igniting it is still a puzzle.

Can't say for 100% but looks like a twin exhaust? @@jovetj That is very interesting. Russia and the US being so high is no surprise but it is surprising that the US outdoes Russia per head. Then again, the US is completely car based with grid roads everywhere. I was surprised by India being so low per capita but I guess they just have a really high population and you don't see as many cars go fast there (although I am sure they would have the highest pedestrian fatality rate as far as train tracks go). In the UK, most of the streets are quite narrow so lower speed limits but the roads connecting the cities seem to be better designed. They don't have stroads like the US and Australia do.

I suppose with those types of figures, there should not be considered a discernible difference between 4.2 and 5.0, but when one figure is 10 times another figure, there are definitely things that can be inferred. I am addicted to these channels, but the Russian and the US car crash compilations are particularly brutal. The US roads can be described as "people testing the idea of unstoppable force vs immovable object and realizing the results of thinking in such a way". Russian road accidents can simply be described as "vodka on ice". They don't have the grid problem the US has, but they have poorer quality roads over very long distances and often they are quite dark and icy. And Australian car crashes can simply be described as "utes on ice".

7:41 they thought they were indicating into the side street instead of the service station. Don’t pull out until they start to turn.

But also don't indicate if it can be misinterpreted. Slow down then indicate when you're past the point the other driver can react

Nice pickup. People are hopeless with that, lots of indicating so early they're taking in a side road or even 2 before the one they want to turn into. It's lazy and ignorant driving.
