I don’t know if I ever drove on this road or ever went to Mt Yotei. Don’t know why. We often went to Toyako from Sapporo, but getting out of town and back was involved heavy traffic.

Konnichiwa, Mount Yotei is a stratovolcano. That means if that volcano goes BOOM, disaster will follow !! Tephrochronology indicates two eruptions at Mount Yotei. The most recent circa 1050 BC from a cone emerging from the northwest flank of the mountain at Lake Hangetsu (Hangetsu-ko). The earlier eruption is dated from circa 3550 BC.

I love this. Despite several trips to Hokkaido I never managed to get to this part. The mountain dominates the landscape as you get closer. Excellent dashcam video
