The standard of driving on UK roads now is the worst I have ever seen in my 44 years of driving. These days drink driving aside for a moment. Most drivers place the act of driving well into the back of their minds and are either on their phones or thinking about social media or whatever , anything apart from driving where as driving should be the main thing they are focused on! I seriously wonder why cars are still made with mirrors and indicators as hardly anyone uses them!

There are a number of seemingly innocuous indicators that signal an impending depression and financial crisis, namely: >spike in the number of road accidents and road rage incidents >huge increase in fast food and takeaway consumption >distrust and fighting amongst members of the public

They get their justified reward, for being an ass. Some people are just not suited to driving. It's the in thing to do, get yourself a car, but not everybody has the right aptitude of mind, to operate them responsibly. Trying to cut corners, squeezing in at last moment, taking ludicrous risks, dashing about, crashing and smashing into others, for no good reason. Calm it, back off the keenness get ahead of the crowd, be sensible, otherwise don't bother to drive.

It's the general sense of entitlement. "I'm in the wrong lane, I need to be over there!" and they just do it expecting it to be a right. Instead of driving safely to correct. Roundabouts are a perfect example, just go round again yet so many seem to want the traffic to halt so that they can crawl from the inside to the exit that they've just missed. Oh and don't bother indicating before lane changes on motorways, just start driving across and then indicate, why give following drivers a chance to adjust and let you in when you're just entitled to the space you think exists?

20mph limits are typically introduced where people live next to a road. They are there to help stop not only fatalities and/or injuries to people and animals, but reduce noise pollution. Do you complain about breaking other speed limits?
@eyesodd
@eyesodd 3 жыл бұрын
Spot on, it's not that people are going quicker it's that the limits have been lowered for no reason all over the place. Cars are safer in terms of crumple zones, self braking, Abs, stability control, anti skid etc etc yet still the limits are dropped.
@eyesodd
@eyesodd 3 жыл бұрын
@@thecraigmachine69 The best way to reduce casualties is don't walk into a road when a vehicle is coming, not rocket science. The pollution thing is cobblers aswell, if you drop the limit from 30 to 20 you spend twice aslong on the same bit of road and your engine will be working harder as you'll need to be in a lower gear to potter along at 20. Sorry but you've been duped by the Greens.
@thecraigmachine69
@thecraigmachine69 3 жыл бұрын
@@eyesodd It's not rocket science to abide by speed limits either. I'm afraid people do walk out on the road when vehicles are oncoming, particular now when vehicles are getting quieter, etc. Having low speed limits were people live, schools, etc. are there to prevent serious injury and death. Cars are getting bigger also with a lot of people choosing to drive SUVs, so the chances of a victim being driver over rather than flung over the bonnet of a vehicle are greater. The noise pollution is not cobblers either. I live next to a 20mph road and it's very noticeable those who abide by a 20mph vs. a 30mph. There's a 10-15 decibel difference in fact. Utter nonsense a car is working harder at 20 compared to 30. And if time is your concern, then leave for your destination earlier. I'm afraid you have been duped by the collective ignorance of others who have a torn in their side about 20mph limits.

Foreign lorry drivers really are blatant ignoring UK road traffic law particularly if they're heading out of the country! Saying that the actual driving standards now are a joke literally! No indications sheer rudeness road rage is a nationwide epidemic! People still using mobile phones and driving with their crystal ball on the dash its a prob that needs facing head on!

I feel like in the past 2 years drivers (ESPECIALLY IN LONDON) have gotten so ignorant and it's made life for motorbike drivers just soo unsafe. I've had 2 accidents this year alone and both of them 3rd party drivers fault. One pulled out the side road without even stopping to look, another taxi came to turn right at a turn before waiting for oncoming traffic to pass. Its a death wish to keep riding but I enjoy the thrill🙃

You enjoy the thrill? Says it all really! motorcycle riders often drive dangerously fast or like they’re the only ones on the road or who are able to anticipate! You’re part of the problem, I won’t be at your funeral!😅😅

I hate the signs that say “ Think Bike” when bikers don’t think “Car, cyclist, horse rider or pedestrian” These signs are usually on the stretches of road that bikers use as race tracks riding at way over the speed limit.

You ain't seen nothing unless you've lived in Poland, 3 fatalities day around the city where we lived, not only do you have to watch the road you have to watch what the cars behind you are doing, not to mention people cross the road WITHOUT looking !

It's like with any hard drug addiction, it all starts being all fantastic in contrast to your normal sober self and then things start to deteriorate. It doesn't help either that the drug has changed from something that gives a sense of speed to a gliding, silent, driving sofa, from something that was kind of boring, where the driving was the most exciting part, to having all the distractions a man can think of on board. Offering 'safer' vehicles also only made matters worse, as it is only inspiring over-confidence. Cars are laced with buttons, or worse, touchscreens. At this point, cars better start driving for us as it appears to be a lost cause.
