If you see a red octagonal stop sign, you are supposed to come to a complete stop even if there is no other traffic. Somebody already mentioned the rules already (whoever reaches it first has right of way; if the timing is equal the auto to your right has the right of way) but the reality is that at 54:45 it's just as much of a clusterfrack as you experienced LOL. At 55:35 you were supposed to stop because of the red sign, but you instead rolled through it.... I'm from California and we call that a "California Roll (Sushi Joke)" Great video and I'm amazed at how detailed it is!!!

randomKZbinR Unfortunately rolling stops at Stop signs happen everywhere, I usually just come to a complete stop for about half a second if it's completely free as I don't want to develop that habit (that bus drivers and taxi drivers are bad for). In fact, at my local shopping centre there's a stretch of road that would ordinarily be 50 km/h (30 mph) but the sign (that's really hard to spot) says 20 km/h (10 mph), but buses NEVER obey that, they do easily double that, but the law is the law

You ride with your left foot in between the buttons and then lift and pivot the toe of your left foot and press the direction you wish to go, then return to center position after the turn. I don't know how it works in game, but that is how it's done IRL. Love all the Videos.

Me niether with Illi, but in Oregon, it's the same as New York then. If a sign is present restricting it, you of course aren't suppose to do it. Most places it is possible however. U-Turns are ran by the exact same rule set as the right turns here in Oregon, oddly enough haha.

Squirrel : Thanks for putting this OMSI 2 video up of Downtown Chicago. Felt like I was back home in the Chicago area and visiting the downtown area. Quite a few places that I did recognize as well as quite a few I think they had left out. The taxis (cabbies) are fairly rude in Chicago as well, as you could tell. Along with the people that were blocking the intersection, they do technically have the right of way here in America when their lights turn red and yours green. For the announcements on the transit lines, we too have different colored/coloured lines as well with our underground/elevated transit. The CTY adverts being announced are just an off shoot of the actual transit system in Chicago, the Chicago Transit Authority, or CTA for short. With changing one letter to avid getting sued, like the rock band Chicago, who were named C.T.A. before the Transit Authority had asked them to change the name or otherwise face a lawsuit. In short, thank you for posting this. It was very fascinating and entertaining getting your take on Chicago. Hopefully you visit the city soon and enjoy yourself with the local food and entertainment.

@xtremegamer22186 жыл бұрын
Every state in the US, except for Alaska, officially have Interstates. Not every state has tollways, and those that do most likely built them before the Interstate highway system. The term “Expressway” are usually used to name many types of roads. For example, Kansas Expressway, which is only a four lane avenue in Springfield, Missouri. But I think that Expressways are basically what freeways are.

All a matter of perspective. And no... We don't hold our arms out by our sides (like an oil slicked penguin) if we want to catch a bus here in the states. We hold a hand up in the air just like people in the UK! Too funny. I enjoyed. As a former bus operator myself, I must say the modeling of the controls on the panel are quite accurate and very impressive. Enjoyed the vid.

No, you don't need to manually set your destination display, the onboard computer manages your destination display automatically on both the included buses, including for the runs to/from the garage. Also, I believe you can restart the engine after automatic shutdowns as many times as you want/need to. You can only use the "stop engine override" button (to extend the amount of time you can idle by a minute or so) a limited number of times before you would have to return to the garage to get it reset.

I live in Chicago and this was a great video. It was VERY realistic. WELL DONE! A few things though. (This is kind of a fact) Bus drivers in downtown Chicago are lazy and usually do not pull up to the stop. Sometimes they park in the street. This causes MAJOR backups. Another thing, you mentioned how colorblind people would have trouble identifying the right train. All trains have a sign with the color AND the end stop written over the color. So a colorblind person would just have to remember the end stop of their train. Also every station has an employee to help people with disabilities. Last thing, you said at 55:40 that you did not have to stop at a stop sign because there were no pedestrians. In Chicago if there is a stop sign you have to stop no matter what. Great job overall.

Also, this may have been said before, but this is a New Flyer bus. The (S) is for service brake and comes on whenever you have your foot on the brake pedal.

for those interested, this bus is a 2008-2009 New Flyer DE60LF with a Cummins ISL Engine and a Allison EP-50 HybriDrive System, it's Hybrid Fuel Propulsion, CTA got 208 of them (4000-4207): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Transit_Authority

Squirrel This is awesome to see. Spent last summer in Chicago and used the public transit. They are very accurate on the models and sounds up to the Ventra Card (the prepaid ride cards for the CTA) scanner noise and "Go" graphic. I'd love to see this expanded into more routes for sure. Even rode the 130 (as well as the 124) on occasion. But the attention to detail is superb! The "Underground" also known as the "L" Train in Chicago is set up as a hub and spoke style with the Loop being at the heart of the spoke. The Red, Orange and Green lines as you heard on your route all go to different parts of town. Orange goes around the loop and heads south, the Red runs from the North to the South and the Green runs from the South to the West making its West/South turn on the Loop. Also a quick explanation of the adverts you mentioned on the bus. It was for the CTA or also known as the Chicago Transit Authority which operates the buses as well as the L Trains runs adverts for their Ventra Cards. Now the 130 is geared for both transit and tourists, so the advert you heard was for tourists, advertising their three day pass that is offered on the Ventra Card system. 124 is also used by tourists so chances are it will also have that or a similar advert when you run the route

This is great I am from Chicago I wish they had more parts of the city besides downtown to drive in proud north sider here!

I don't think you noticed but most left turn lanes have their own signal. All lanes stop to allow the two left lanes to turn. They get an arrow on the signal. That's why you had trouble crossing around 48:20

Thank for a video. You convinced me to buy this beautiful map. I didn't read all the comments so I just like to mention 2 things: - there is a lot of adders from over the world for omsi creating mods, buses, maps etc. but it is very hard to model or even reskin people in the game this is why it was not done so far. - stupid AI is stupid because of it's paths. try and open some map in editor and you will see that AI can drive only on selected paths so sometimes it's in your way. Those paths are invisible in the game so you have feeling of its stupidity, but mapmaker can actually plan it when making the map to minimize this problems.

Cool video! Remember that area of Chicago very well. On a side note I believe you have to do a complete stop on each stop sign no matter do you see pedestrians or not.

@16:58 the outside destination display had reset back to the garage despite it being set to Ogilvie so i guess it doesn't matter whether you set the run number first or not because the outside is either bugged or it doesn't work the way it implies it should.
@viniciusvtg9 жыл бұрын
altern8ive Kedzie Garage is actually the Not In Service display. Squirrel did wrong in selecting the route with that option, because when you enter the run number it sets the display automaticaly.

In the states, three-way or four-way stops, as they're called, are when you give right of way to whomever got to the stop sign first. I believe the map just didn't have the indication for it, so those other motorists should've gave you right of way next. Also, regardless of whether or not there's pedestrians at the crosswalk, if there's a stop sign, you still stop.

Every stop sign you have to stop Lol... you had the turning light but didn't realize it when you and that truck were in the same lane facing each other. There should be a manual for the road signs just to help out. I gotta say tho, you handled that 60 ft like a pro😊

In the UK, according to the Highway Code, you are meant to stop for pedestrians who are crossing the road into which you are turning - not that many seem to obey that rule. So there is a "yield for pedestrians" over here; it's just not signed as in the USA.

30:45 what the game did is correct. Where you first started the journey at Randolph, that is not where the end of the line is. The end of the line is where you got the report. Even the dead run from the yard is counted as a trip.
