Commenting a bit late on this I know but a couple things: First, Great video! Someone should pay this man to be an instructor. Secondly, with the Xbox I've found the throttle to be the most difficult thing to manage, particularly when using the cockpit view. I rectified this by using a wireless USB keyboard and assigning throttle percentages to the number keys. 1 is 10%, 2 is 20% and so on with 0 being 100%. This has revolutionized my landings. Note that by default those keys control ATC responses. I cleared those. I use a wireless mouse for that. Hope this helps anyone who's interested.

@Baleur3 жыл бұрын
One thing to add about flaps. They can also be used to quickly lose altitude if you're coming in way too high and your plane doesnt have speed brakes. Basically use the flaps as speed brakes, to allow you to point down at the target, lose a heck of a lot of altitude, without gaining too much speed. I once went from 12k feet to 2k feet when i was on final approach this way. It's dicey, but a great trick.
@spankthemunkey15943 жыл бұрын

You can also program the nav to give you a good approach as the default route is a straight line with no thought given to landing, use auto pilot and set your altitude. Once you get to final approach press the approach button and it should guide you down nice and straight. All you gotta do is manage speed and pull back on yoke when you’re about to touch down. Doing it this way also gets you a achievement. The cessna 172 is probably the easiest to program the navigation system on

Very good. I think that before trying a landing, learners first need to learn to fly SLOWLY. Learn to fly just above stall, high enough to allow recovery. Lots of people are scared to fly slow. But this is imperative for landings.

As a pilot flying a pa28, I actually learnt in a C150/152. Couple of things we are taught which should add , regarding trim … we follow the Acronym PAT .. Power.. Attitude .. Trim … you set the power for cruise (usually 2300-2400rpm) … get the attitude for straight and level .. and then trim so you can essentially fly hands off. To land …. On finals (if it’s properly realistic£ you need carb heat below 2000rpm , can be 30 degrees outside , but you will get carb icing… and that’s not good !! Set power to around 1500 rpm and use teim again .. here’s the important bit … you do not need to point the nose up or down. If the plane is trimmed right .. you control your decent with power … so on finals your aiming for 60-65 knots … once at that speed trim to that speed … so then when you increase power , you will arrest … or increase your decent by pulling power back. Once over the runway .. power fully off .. hold stick back a touch … ground effect will lower your stall speed and angle of attack will naturally lift the nose so you land. Another great tip .., if in cockpit view .. on finals .. sim to keep the runway as it gets closer in exactly the same spot in your screen … do that abs toy will always land on the runway … then it’s just a case of looking at its profile to judge if too high or low … or off runway has PAPI LIGHTS … 2 red 2 green is perfect. Hope that helps

Can you do a turbo prop tutorial? More specifically how to use the blue lever. Every time I fly a turbo prop my range is half of what it shows on the world map.
@rotor133 жыл бұрын
The blue lever is for the propeller, you adjust it for a specific RPM - from my studies, only for setting cruise RPM and subsequently makes less noise. The throttle is what you actually adjust for proper fuel flow and economy, as well of course the fuel levers. At cruise, you want to be anywhere between 60-70% power and adjust the fuel mixture levers accordingly

@@Axle1324 Blue lever will change the RPM, throttles will change the manifold pressure.
@thatdude76523 жыл бұрын
i just want to clarify this, cause i think that people might still see this. The blackleveris the throttle, which will change your power, the blue lever is your rpm which will also reduce the rotation speed of your engine through angling the prop blade. Once you are at cruise, you bring this to give you the most rpm without getting into the reds. Then there is the fuel lever, which is usually red. This will affect fuel usage and eventually rpm. The way to set this properly is once you are at cruise keep bringing it down until you notice a drop in rpm, then you bring it up a little so the rpm stabilizes. You are now at optimal fuel and rpm. P.S. the moment you change the throttle this must be redone

I kept flying away and coming back at it, but I just couldn't see the airstrip until I was right on top of it, and usually I was at the wrong approach angle. I had to abort the landing about 5-6 times, but on the plus side it made landing at real airports much, much, easier!
