Am Sikh. Love this drama but not surprised with one sided facts shown. My grandfather’s first wife and his 4 children were brutally killed. My grandfather had deep mark on his forehead his whole life and everyday he wore turban he cried not because of the mark on forehead but the wounds of memories (Trauma) of brutally killed wife and four children. But I agree that Jinnah took the right decision to have muslims their own land coz Nehru denied some of the promises made to Muslim league way before partition. Nehru could not be trusted and Jinnah was right. Now the irony is muslims got Pakistan and Hindus got Hindustan but Sikhs are still denied the promises made by Nehru to Master Tara Singh for Sikhs. Instead we have been paying prices every now and then by 1965, 1984, 1990’s decision of waters, lands, language and religion. We are still paying the price of the mistake made by Master Tara singh and Sikh leadership of the time for trusting Nehru and Gandhi.

Watching episode 4. I think this is the difference between the pak cinema and indian cinema, indian cinema doesnt prejudice but always tries to show the other religions people as good and the victims are always two sided. But in this drama it feels it focuses only on damages done to the muslim people. Also it doesnt even try to infuse a feeling of secularity among the people. Additionally the hindu characters mostly are shown as evil and as inferior(like servants lakshmi and parvati). While saleem ,who could have been presented as an ideal character here is also shown as 'influenced' as if secularity itself is evil. Im not a religious person, probably but believe in unity but when i read comments in dramas like these of indian muslims i sometimes feel if some of us indians who try to be seculars are fools.

Don’t see it as hypocrisy, see it as one character’s experience during that time, from that character’s perspective only. For example, two siblings with same parents grew up with very different experiences that led one to become an artist and another to become a banker. One would say I was abused by my parents, other would say I was loved. People experienced things differently, this story is not about 100% facts from history, it’s just Hassan’s experience.

@@rum6208 1. He was secular, which is a pretty noble trait imo. He didn’t look at people from the lens of religion- great approach. 2. He was against partition coz he understood the fact that everyone had been living there for ages as friends and neighbours and had never looked at religion as a distinguishing factor. Hence, this politically pumped in question of the ‘new state’ in the mind of an average Muslim citizen was just going to sow seeds of separatism and hatred in everyone’s heart, which it did. 3. He was practical and idealistic. He knew the idea of a new state is not going to be one without putting everything on the line. That’s what happened. There was massive bloodshed, messy and uncoordinated displacement of people etc. Of course, partition was a disaster. All this was caused in the name of a fictitious state based on fraudulent idea of oppression that didn’t even exist. So, yes he was the only character that made sense to me. Had everyone thought like him, people would’ve lived in peace, harmony and in an egalitarian state.

Partition the name brings back the horrors for both India and Pakistan. Both sides lives lost. In India there is still after long time of Partition alot big Muslim community lives peacefully. And one thing to remember freedom, British and politics all played the role in it. How many peaces we are going to do.(India) one became Pakistan and now Kashmir wanted to be other nation. People use to live all together peacefully. So much Hatred why I don't get it. My own grandmother lost her father and younger brother in Partition not only her there is so many people I know lost there loved ones. So it's not only Hindus did the killings but Muslims did the same. As a Sikh Indian I have so many Pakistani muslim close friends. But why I feel Pakistani people shows more Hatered towards India or Indian people. Well in foreign countries it is not like this they live peacefully together. Moreover all these Artists come to bollywood and work like fawad than nobodysaysanything. After so long time I think we should give each other space and respect. It's not about religion because India is united nation and proud of our Muslim community and respect the religion.
