She interpreted it wrong. With 3-4 years of experience, for Data profile the average CTC is 30-40 LPA. I think she is not aware of the data, as even her company, Dunnhumby, or the Big 4, do not offer such averages or even MBB (Mackinsey ,BCG , Bain) also. These CTC figures are usually reserved for top product-based MNCs or unicorn startups. Please don't be judgmental and be practical about what salaries are actually offered.

Guys 70-80% of the time the salaries would be Freshers - 4-5 LPA 3-5 yrs exp - 5-15 LPA 5+ yrs - 15+ LPA 30-40 LPA is of senior managers with 15-20 yrs of experience OR if you are from IITs (that too not all IITians will get this much as freshers)
