Thanks for the videos. What is happening if I only share a view and not the associated table (in the case I want to share only some selected columns)?
@DataEngineering Жыл бұрын
you need to have reference grant to those table to the view object. ( I personally have not tried this, but this is what the doc says.. do let me know if that does not work)

Is data sharing possible outside Snowflake? Like from some other ingestion tool to snowflake?
@DataEngineering Жыл бұрын
you can share data outside of snowflake using external stage (S3 or ADLS Gen2 or Gooble Bucket), but there is no other way to do so.. may be in future, snowflake may add a feature
@RGAL-oe5mo4 ай бұрын
make a video on to share data with different regions
@hahahehehoho81912 жыл бұрын
So how can we share data across different cloud provider/region (the last scenario)? Is it not possible at all?
@DataEngineering2 жыл бұрын
It is possible via DB replication to other cloud provider or cross-region. Data exchange does it automatically and if it has to be done without data exchange (which needs support from Snowflake), then it has to be done using data-replication feature.

Just saw from Snowflake documentation :- There is no hard limit on number of share that a provider account can. It might have got updated recently.
@DataEngineering2 жыл бұрын
let me check that once again.. there was a limit of 20 and then you need to contact snowflake support.. and there is no hard limit.. but kind of dependency on snowflake..

how does share access work with 1000 of data consumer? do we have to do it manually or their is a concept of user group?
@DataEngineering9 ай бұрын
I don't think there is any user group concept.... for such a large consumer based.. you probably have to use data exchange or private data exchange.. where consume (if internal) can subscribe it... or you have to write some automation scripts.
@ParthWork Жыл бұрын
is it possible to see what does the consumer do with the shared data, for example what queries do they run on that shared data
@DataEngineering Жыл бұрын
No, as far as I know it is not possible to see what consumes are doing when they are using their own computes...

Can i share dynamic objects to either Reader Account/Full Account?? Lets say a temp table will be created for every run and that should be visible to Reader/Full account dynamically
@DataEngineering2 жыл бұрын
Temp tables can not span multiple session.. I have never tried this but very unlikely but permanent and transitent table must be available if you have shared the entire data base and add them to the shared object dynamically via SQL. But why would you like to do that? Interesting use case and I would like to understand that.
@nvkishorekumar2 жыл бұрын
@@DataEngineering Thank you and appreciate on a quick response. Well it was a hypothetical question which i got while i attended 1 interview and was curious to know how will it happen if in case :) ? also i would like to know, is there any other mechanism of compressing a table which by default all the tables in snowflake are compressed? In short compressing already compressed table? Just like multi-value compression or column value compression in Teradata

1.I have a snowflake account AWS123 on US east(ohio) cloud is AWS . 2. I have a snowflake account AZ123 on US east(ohio) cloud is Azure. Is it possible direct share between AWS123 and AZ123? Kindly suggest me on this.
@DataEngineering2 жыл бұрын
No, it is not possible to have direct share between cloud providers... to enable it, you have to create a data replication in the target cloud and region and then you can share objects from secondary account.
@maaaaaass2 жыл бұрын
@@DataEngineering Thanks for the confirmation,but that 2 accounts are in same region right, in one region only one copy of data should be there right? If we replicate , a duplicate copy will come in same region right?
