For Dynamics 365 apps you need to use Dynamic 365 license.

Great info. Could you please confirm the dataverse storage capacity for each environment and also each tenant?

Maximum of 2GB per environment, it doesn't come out of tenant capacity though

Why provide 2 environments developer, and sandbox ? Is sandbox not meant for developers? Anyone know why separate developer environment is provided?

Sandbox is a great environment type which also provides you with Dataverse. Developer environment is additional environment that gives you those capabilities if you do not have premium licenses but want to try Dataverse. It does not have expiry of 30 days like in a trial environment, you have the environment with you, as long as you are active in it.

Can a developer environment be enabled for dynamics 365 apps? Or is it strictly powerapps?

You should be able to get this connector without any additional license, if you already have license for Power app

If you want another user that is developing with you to try a power automate flow in the dev environment you cannot share with him/her. You need a proper Sandbox environment for now this is the only limitation we found

Not able to be done - you'll need to have a specific Dynamics 365 enabled environment

Would be a lot more usefull if we also had the ability to install D365 apps in this dev environment... 90% of our customers have 1 or more D365 apps like Sales or Field Service. And without being able to take a dependency on those apps, these environments are pretty much useless for development in those types of tenants
