Thanks. It starts with a simple query. They become more complex and hopefully, the manual effort in the workflow reduces. You start using dataviewjs because it's epic. One day you realise you are writing your own plugins. Another rabbit hole to add to the KZbin one. 😄

@@VickyZhaoBEEAMP On KZbin I'm beyond help with so many small endorphin shots each day. In Obsidian I'm deep into learning to create GUI components in Svelte. It's a good job I live alone and can be really selfish with my time.

This is excellent. I'm still a beginner, and I'd been starting to see references to Dataview recently. If I'm using the Tasks plugin, it doesn't look like I'd need to use the task functionality of Dataview, but the lists and tables aspects look really useful. Thanks for posting this video!

You’re good at explaining things the way that non-tech people think. We haven’t been trained in all the terms techies use. Your examples are great and I really appreciate you sharing them in the text! It saves us so much time!!! I don’t know what your goals are, but I, for one, would pay for classes if you could put together something well documented like this that would come with the classes.

Thank you for saying so!! This means the world 🌎 🙏 I’m curious what would you want out of a class? Is it a more comprehensive step by step or to do more than what’s covered on the channel so far?

Another question: why does your query for “task” or “task from” show the titles of the notes and the tasks in them and mine only shows the tasks from all the files meeting the criteria but without the file names? For instance, if I use your #newsletter example, I made two files with #newsletter tag and two open tasks each. In the “file from #newsletter” query I get the four tasks but not with the file names. From your examples, I would expect to get filename1 with its two tasks under it and filename2 with its respective 2 tasks under it

@@VickyZhaoBEEAMP This is a reply to your question above. I don’t know what I would like to learn specifically, though an integrated course from soup to nuts would be really helpful for people who are new to PKM and Obsidian, etc. But that kind of thing might not interest you if you prefer doing your videos à la carte. I like the way you give an overview of what you will cover in each video and why it will be important to the learner.

It's very powerful and I'm quite interested to learn Obsidian, but it also looks very complicated. Feels like I have to learn to code in order to use Obsidian, which is a major friction for me. Is there any graphical interface or other method so one doesn't have to memorize the codes to generate a list, a table or other similar data?

Hi Vicky I am just learning about Obsidian and this was a little advanced for me. Having said that I really enjoyed your other videos. For me I did not understand the link about highlight and insights. Do you use those key words when you made the original note? I would like to make some suggestions if I may. I realize giving unsolicited advice may not be welcome, but it is with good intentions. First the screen is very dark and the typing is very small. I realize you are doing a live demonstration and have noticed other videos are the same. However I really like the bright yellow slide. So if I may suggest I would do your presentation on the larger slides. I believe from my experience years ago you can click on the presentation slide to input the next words as your talking. I hope I explained that properly. I realize this is more work for you but it would make you stand out from the rest. Second, who is your target audience? Beginners and or power users. If beginners then you can have a few minutes at the end of the video to explain things like double brackets and links and tags? Thirdly keep up the good work! Cheers Vancouver Island Canada

Hey James, thanks so much for taking the time to share this!!! I really appreciate it. And the super thanks too ☺️ Re highlight and insights - the original notes had highlights as the dataview keyword, so when I have it in a table, the heading would be highlights. But the awesome thing about dataview is that you can change the heading without going back to change every single note. So if you use AS, you can change the heading from highlights to insights! Second, thank you for the suggestions!! I will definitely make the text bigger next time and try to make the contrast clearer on the screen. Good point on a beginner friendly guide on the basics. I'll put that up on the list of vids to make!! Thank you for the reminder! So good to meet a fellow British Columbian!! I want to move to Vancouver island!!

@@VickyZhaoBEEAMP You are welcome! Good luck with the new formatting, I noticed when I watched the video on iPad I could not see a thing, however, viewing on my desktop I could see more clearly. Something to keep in mind where you audience views the videos. I still like the slides in yellow but that's just me, maybe ask your viewers? Vancouver Island is a great place to live. Lots of Hiking and wildlife. The pace is way slower, I used to live in North Vancouver and even though Nanaimo is the same size its much quieter. Nanaimo may not be the best place for a young person who likes nightlife. And Victoria is a lovely city and great place to live as well.
