I cannot understand a single word but I’m an automotive technician. Looks like undercover looking for a good shop or bad shop to see if honest or dishonest mechanics do proper diagnosis and do not oversell something that is not needed.

yep, this is somewhat similar to what "cbc marketplace" is doing, going undercover sending decoys to service providers to find honest or dishonest businesses, i'm from the country this was filmed (Israel), and over here... car shops tend to be SUPER SUPER fraudulent specially towards women who the owners take as totally clueless. the particular issue recreated here with the decoy car was a loose gasket between the radiator and engine resulting a leak, so all the person has to do is fasten the gasket (is that even the right word?) and possibly refill radiator fluid, billing the customer between 60 - 100$ overall (roughly converted from our currency so not accurate), the guy took way less and obviously was considered honest. midway through the operation, the repairman actually mentioned the man running the undercover show so he saw his other shows and probably was sus about that service call, so i'm not sure if he played nice in case it was filmed or if he's actually honest, i hope he was genuinely honest

@@vooshmoozik6185 👍 no matter what language no matter what country when you’re in the trades and you’re honest you can easily tell just by looking at the dishonest individuals. Shady low life characters praying on innocent and knowledgeable people to make their living. These kind of people need to be eliminated out of our society Who are dishonest

@@coldfinger459sub0 thanks for replying, i was concerned gasket was not the right word, i looked it up and it sure wasn't, i was thinking a tube clamp, at around 1:42 - 1:43 you can see it being pointed our with a screwdriver, i know this won't change much for you but it bothers me so just wanted to be clearer. also, been looking through some of your leak testing videos, are those considered standard procedure when checking for leaks? as in... do you always hook up all the tubes and dye for every leak hunt or is that mostly for older cars? you mentioned the car being from 2003?

@@vooshmoozik6185 UV dye goes into every car all the time. New car or old car. UV dye is not a first good leak detector. Using your eye first. Then if it is full electronic leak detector on cold not running car if possible, if ac was running when came in to shop the miss opportunity to test in that condition. If car is 100% empty jump to quick high pressure dry nitrogen to 150 psi ( 10.2 BAR) use ultrasonic leak detector then soap bubbles. After that if no leaks found them vacuum test for vacuum leak decay test. If leak brake out the ultrasonic leak detector. Some leaks only at vacuum some only pressure some only higher pressure sometimes only low pressure some only when running when line gets hot some only when Line gets cold some all the time. By this time you should have found the leak . If not after all this time and running AC then before you release the car back to the customers check it one last time with the UV light. I ALWAYS USE 3 or 4 different leak detector methods. That’s why I find them when they have been to many other places or even the same place many times. Even sometimes I can not find the leak first times. But I have a better chance the shops who are cheap and want quick and easy fast only one method.
