My boyfriend of 2 years just told me last week that he has a condition that'll eventually make him blind (he actually has two conditions that'll both end with him going blind). I really liked this video and it gave me some hope that we can get through it together!

Lucy Edwards Hi Lucy. I saw your article about love and have recently come across your youtube channel. I find you to be amazing and so inspirational. I had a question; how do you manage to put on makeup so flawlessly? I am blind in my right eye and severely sighted in my left but other than lipstick. I can't manage to put on makeup right or just scared to poe out my eulye lol. I was curious bout your day to day life. Like functioning around the kitchen or travelling on your own. I live in London but moved from Sweden years ago. I go to a special school to get support but the headteacher and deputy head are really discouraging towards me and blind students there. They look down on us and think university is not a good path for us. Which depress3s most of us. However, this negativity and negativity from people telling me that blind peope are a reliability and/or high maintenance And a bad relationship has caused some unwanted doubts. I feel anxiety in crowds and panic when i knock things over or bump into people. I know it's not a big deal but i can't help those reactions. And the stigma i get from people when they notice i am visually impaired and deem me incapable as soon as they find out. Butactually am capable a lot. Sorry its a bit of a ramble. Anyways, i entered a long distance relationship whose back in my hometown and it has been a bit over a month, almost two months. We've never seen pictures of each other apart from hands where we have shared videos of our pets or random pictures of scenery, nor has we heard each otjer's voice. As we found the mystery is fun and see who is more patient. So we talk through texts and occassional e-mails when we share songs we wrote or stories. He knows that my eyes are damaged and thst they are two different colors. He said he doesn't care and me being myself is better than anything else and that having two different colored eyes just makes me unique. I was so grateful for tjat. We looselt planned that i would go see him this winter or he would come see me next summer. But my insecuritoes are running high. What if he finds me emberasding or if he regrets it when we meet. Questions such as "Why would he choose me over a girl that can see" "what if he finds me to be too much to handle" "what if i get lost. Would he be annoyed?" Questions such as those are making me so nervous and a bit depressed. I wanna ask him but i find it silly if i did or that i would put him off. I want him to know my conditions and i really want him to try and use my cane while blindfolded when i meet him so he understands how it feels. How should i deal with these insecurities?

I had the same thing with my girlfriend,she was blind until she was 12. She had got eye transplants from some kid who signed a form who of which died sadly at last year,she was exited for the whole month of December,it was her first Christmas with the ability to see correctly . When we came back to school in January everyone in my grade (I think) excited for her . The down side was many people were telling her to dump me because of my looks . I learned that rumor from one of my friends who had told me . good thing is she is still with me .

Aw you guys are so sweet together! You two remind me a lot of me and my husband. He always audio describes for me, and he helps me edit my KZbin videos too. I also really dislike the misconception that blind people only date other blind people. My husband is sighted, and I’ve never dated another blind person before. I much prefer having at least one pair of working eyes around

I probably shouldn’t be thinking about dating at the age of 13 but oh Em Gee I want a guy like yours! Most guys at my school are kind of awkward around me because they have no idea what to do but there are some that are totally relaxed around me and treat me like just another girl. Also the way he said that he keeps his audio description on for you OMG that’s so cute!

Great video, that was very interesting to watch, and you have an adorable chemistry :D I loved the part about audiodescription, I once accidently turned it on when skype-watching a series with friends, and I was like "this show is really meta, the narration is very innovative" haha ... Totally understand why you'd leave it on, and also loved how thoughfully Ollie described what he does to make you feel included ^^ I don't have any blind acquaintances at the moment but my dad is loosing his sight and learning how to be caring and thoughtful with a person who happens to be blind is really interesting and reassuring, so thank you very much for creating this content !

You two are very adorable together and my boyfriend and I can relate to this. I'm legally blind but still retain some of my peripheral vision. We've been together about 7 and a half years now and our first few years together had their challenges but we've definitely learned a lot through it all.
