The thing in Europe is, that once you're an adult you'd never really ask your parents if you're allowed to go on a trip, you'd just do it - and like the girl said, you'd tell them who you go with, just so they know. It's polite to inform them, but as long as you can afford it, parents can't "forbid" their child to go on a trip with their girl/boyfriend. Same with living together. When I moved in with my boyfriend in my mid-twenties, I just told my parents that I was going to do it. No need to ask for permission.

YEah, really the new generation!! I am a baby-boomer and when I was a kid Spaniards were very well known for being prude, it was the Franco's days. Now with tourism, and all the liberalization it's very different from the old days, it was as such in Latin America but things are changing with the new generations as well. I guess the Catholic culture still prevails concerning respect to parents, ideas about divorce, abortion and this respect feelings towards family. By the way divorce in Spain was approved in 1981, let me tell you that I was a college student back then , so it's only normal that your parent's generation still has some of these ideas. Not to mention your grandparent's attitudes concerning this.

Asking a parent's permission once you become an adult is really silly... that being said, being a respectful child and telling them where you're going and when you'll be back - calling them if plans change - in order to help them not worry should still be a thing regardless of how old you are. No matter how old you get, you are still their kid, so respect them and they will respect your freedom.

I do not know how it is in Spain but in Argentina we have a lot of distrust and insecurity (some not all) teens do not want to meet the parents (depending on the matter) in fact they take their liberty too much they tend to be irresponsible and can end up in very strong situations . Yes, it is true that you must be respectful with your parents, but there are people who do not care.In Argentina, it happens that many boys between 13 14 15 and onwards secretly leave their parents and go to other people's houses without warning since they feel that the They are pressing the issue a lot is that that person does not know or does not care where he is because he feels that he is in a safe place. I'm not saying that you have to watch them constantly but we are also concerned about what may happen to them. it is assumed that as an adult you learned from the consequences and mistakes but there are people who do not care and do not change.

I feel like a lot of korean people it's like closed in a cage only because the society it's still old and they have those "rules" that were stablished when their parents were young and I hope that changes and teenagers start to be their selves without being scared of what will people or their friends think. How often you have sex is more determined by your partner more than age. If one person does all the work all the time, it can get tiresome, so you'd be reluctant to do it as often, especially if one has a job to get to the next morning. Also, while it's not publicly hidden as in the past, Koreans did have a lot of sex. There were cheap motels, dvd rooms, and no le bangs (karaokes are different than no le bangs as karaokes are pretty expensive) to name a few. There was a thing in Korea where most girls would say they were a virgin, but after they learned about the hymen breaking in sex ed, now many say that you are only the second person they had sex with.

From what I have seen in Korean dramas, adults have to have their parents permission to do just about everything. I fact most marriages are arranged by the parents. Some are even forced to marry whom their parents select for them.

You know it doesn't really work like that. Just because their conservative doesn't mean they aren't woke. It's their culture and whilst I agree they should loosen up a bit, its much more ideal for you to respect them and their culture
@yoongisrose69683 жыл бұрын
I think it's because it actually takes a while for the child to move out the house, some still live with their parents in their early twenties and late 20s so it's really up to the fact of whether or not the child is going to move out of the house get an apartment and then going to live with that person cuz you're previously living with your parents
@missyrust47363 жыл бұрын
So judgmental. Perhaps travel and befriend those from different cultures and see firsthand the many reasons why they choose to live the way they do. What works for you doesn't work for everyone and respect begets respect. You may begin to appreciate differences and recognize that those who choose a different opinion than you aren't necessarily less woke. In fact, part of being woke is understanding and respecting others.
@snowy55993 жыл бұрын
In Korea, apartments/condos are HELLA expensive. Many adults will live with their parents even after college because it just isn't financially reasonable to try to rent your own apartment, especially in Seoul. In addition, there is the cultural/social pressure to respect your parents more and not just run away to do your own thing. The younger generations are becoming more similar to the global attitude, but there are still a lot of older folks around. You can't change an entire culture overnight. :)

Dont you think it has more to do with couples that do that are more conservative and thus dont even contemplate divorce in the first place??? Seems pretty stupid the idea that if people dont live together thus dont know how it is to live with the other, and then marry and move together and find out the common living is hell it would lead to more divorce than couple that lived together enough to know each other and thus know they are suitated for marriage? Would love to see that study because it seems 100% unreliable and ilogic... I mean is common sense living together before marriage leads to a better marriage. Is not rock science...

Ok first of all no. It’s actually ASIAN culture. In asia, being intamite or dating is/was not allowed before marriage. You HAVE to respect ur elders for example calling them Bhi a or bhabi or maybe didi. So yeah. Btw, I’m not Indian I just know all these stuff cause I’m also a south Asian. In my country we also eat Korean/ East Asian food. We mostly eat a lot of sin, sushi, cabbage, kimchi, veggies. We also have a lots of boba stores. People think that my country is apart of India when it’s really not. But I do love Bollywood

I have a different opinion about cohabitation, especially since psychologist have proven that relationships don't usually last if this is the given situation. You can never truly know someone even if you live with them for a couple of months, or even years. That's the great part of marriage you always learn something new about your partner. It's interesting that she said if you don't live with someone to see how they are, because you need to know how they live then most likely people will get the divorced, however that's quite the opposite. Usually when people live together they find out certain small trates about a person that they find annoying and they are quick to break up, however married people don't divorce over such a small insignificant annoyances usually it's something much bigger that led to a divorce. Anyway maybe cohabitation works for her and perhaps she will have or already has a great marriage.

That's right, the whole point of cohabitation is the quick 'get out of it' clause ! When already married, you work hard to solve issues, not think about how fast you can pack your bags and leave the house.

I actually do not think Korean and Spanish culture is that different these days at least in family life, at least where I come from. Kids are leaving their houses later these days because of economic pressure so even our dating lives are being affected by it lol I did not have the same freedom in dating as did my friends who had money and could afford to live alone and neither did my friends who also lived with their parents. In a way I feel I am living my 20s in my 30s lol Also I feel there is a sub-section of people who are tired of this one night stand culture that's been normalized and just chooses to stay single or simply wait it out until they meet the right person. I feel trying to have a stable relationship these days is so hard.

I don't understand what's sooooo fascinating about living together before marriage or getting to know better after marriage? If you find your partner not compatible you break up with him/her anyway. And after marriage is the same issue just some paper work involved. Personally, I don't like Easterns trying to be more westernized mainly in this particular category...each eastern region has their own individual super awesome culture...in course of time I think we will all going to lose it and be a follower of one monoculture ....there will be no diversity.....it is not about the question of which culture is cool or more open or conservative...we must think a little differently...."how our youth is driven towards prioritising only the physicality of being an entire being of mind, body and soul?" most of the peole have no care in the world on working on the mind or spirituality nothing...but when due to all these stupid biology when someone falls victim to depression, anxiety and mental issues then we undertand and run for counselling, therapy and what not... Don't make biology the forefront of everything peeps. It's super shallow..it's an important part but it does not define neither openness nor rigidness....every culture has their own uniqueness...we must share one another's important adavancement for betterment.....we are no different than the animals who do everything out in the open...touching ass, doing things under the bridge are not at all cool for any culture per se...these are undignified shameless culture ...though we are also animals as well but we are different...we have intellect...."the worst that can happen to a human race is when there youth is deviated towards focusing on sexuality"
@sambatra61622 жыл бұрын
While living with a person you get to know their bad habits, their good habits, their way of living, without living with a person you'd truly never know them. This has absolutely nothing to do with the east or west and diversity isn't even relevant to this topic. Living together before marriage is just practical. Do you really think people just live together for sex? If you really think that then you obviously have a twisted mind and have no idea about reality. A lot of people live together because of a no. of practical reasons and also because its cheap. You're extremely narrow minded and have no sense of reality, but then again it seems like you're muslim and we can't expect much open mindedness from muslims.

Even if ppl hold hands n walk closely ppl stare u down like u r committing a crime.I find it kind of sad.Unless couples indulge in somethin obscene-kissing ,holding hands walking or sitting cosily shud be allowed n not looked down upon.

India is a bit extreme though, like you can't even hold hands with your partner or hug them while holding hands of your partner is very common in S. Korea
