Hello Peter. I've been enjoying your stories since the beginning. At least I think it was the beginning. You even advised me on my first trip. I enjoy the stories but I think most men don't fully understand or appreciate the girls. Imo, if we are going to travel to Thailand and date the girls, we should acknowledge their culture. First, I don't know why men go to the world's largest red light city to find a wife but I do understand how it happens. I think if any man truly loves a Thai woman than he should plan on supporting her family. They can't leave the bar unless their family is provided for. Even then you are asking them to trust you. I'm sure not all of the men are completely honest with them. Maybe I'm an old softy but I think Thailand is a great place and we'll deserving of my vacation dollars.

Does some Farang still pay a dowry when getting married with a Thai girl? Only Thai men should pay a dowry as the bride family put land in the name of the husband or couple, while Farangs cannot own land so no dowry is due! IF the bride family has no land, no dowry is due or a small symbolic dowry is paid and returned to the couple after the wedding. Also, even Thai men DO NOT pay dowry or pay for a very small symbolic amount for women over 30-35 or with kids (Thai men very rarely merry these type of women though ).

Tony from the first story absolutely nailed the culture in Isaan! That's exactly what i saw when i was unlucky enough to have a GF from up there. It's not Thai culture; as I'm very happily married to a lady from the Central area for 7 years now.
