Might be some thruth about the "Spanish thing", but that doesn't mean that they don't like the Spanish neighbors, on the contrary. This is because Spain is a much bigger country and they often get included in Spain. Usually Americans confuse things, they call Spain to Iberia and forget that Portugal is a part of Iberia too. So they have the need to stand up and make their point abouth their differences. Both countries have strong and unique cultures, they belong to the same ethnic group and I can't tell appart Portuguese and Spanish people unless they speak. I've studied in Spain for some time and live in Portugal and I think the Spanish women attitude is pretty much like the Portuguese women one and I love it. Women rule here, they dictate the rules and we like that, also because usually they are priceless, beautiful and have strong personalities, they make great lifemates and friends.

The Jealousy thing I think is true. I worked for a company that had a Portuguese branch. Every time I traveled to visit the branch, while they welcomed me, talked to me briefly and we shared a few laughs, in the end, I felt it was hard to befriend the employees. Like they huddled in their own groups and spoke Portuguese, so I was left standing alone, even though I visited the branch several times. When some of the Portuguese employees came to our UK branch we gave them much more attention and went out with them. I don't know maybe it's a one-off. But that was my experience.

Did you speak to them in a Portuguese in Portugal? If not, did you speak in Portuguese in the UK branch? It's always easier to click with people who share commonalities, especially languages and cultures. However, I've never had an issue with feeling welcomed in Portugal, just my personal experience.
@hazzaldo
@hazzaldo 8 ай бұрын
@@gazerdaestrela in all honesty, no one can tell for sure what is the real reason. It's down to so many factors. People are complex. It could be down to the environment, the type of people, and possibly an aspect of the culture. They all spoke perfect English, and whenever there was a girl who came over from our UK branch, all the guys spent a lot of time chatting with her, especially the office was majority male workers (and she only spoke English). So I know it's not an issue with me not knowing the Portuguese language then. It's hard to say what is the real reason or if it's just one reason. But I think the aspect of being territorial about the tribe you feel part of (just so you maintain your social status within the tribe) certainly is something that exists in a lot of people's behavior. We're social animals after all, and being part of a social circle, and having a sense of belonging is innate to our survival. It goes back to the tribal aspect that made us survive as humans. Hence why we sometimes act overprotective over our own social circle.

Actually I learned that comparing the food from Portugal to the one from Spain kind of works as long as you are clear when saying:'I love Spanish food, but this (Portuguese) is sooo much better!' Apart from that it is really different. It is more spicy in many ways and an amalgament of Mediterranean cuisine and its ritch and healthy components. Actually the food of Portugal reflects in many ways a travellers history. You may consider Spanish food (and I love that already) as a good entry into Mediterranean cuisine, but the Portuguese is just giving it the extra pinch of salt it requires to really accelerate your taste buds. I know, when stationed in Europe some 35 years ago I did some travelling to Portugal as had a Portuguese girlfriend. Believe me, her cooking and the places we visited was just from a different world, in my memories I can still taste that food.

saw some comments and i honestly don t understand why people call us consevative and closeminded because we don t have sex in first dates. why should i give the most intimate part of myself, of my body to an almost stranger, to a person i don ' t love ?? sex is the most intimate act two people can perform, so why shouldn t i keep it just for the person i love??? if we give sex to anyone, we are not giving something special for the one we love. i think sex is totally banalized and almost doesn t feel special anymore and it s very sad, sex is made for the most insignificant feeling( a just simple physical atracttion) and there is nothing special left for the one we love, people ! i think in the relation with someone special we should keep something exclusive for that person and that is our body and the conection with the other body.!! a special thing (sex) given to someone special( the one we love)! so i think sex is an act of conection and in a certain way, an act of love, in certain way, because of the emotions it triggers in our souls. when people say sex with no strings, with no attcaments, they are lying to themselves, sex itself IS feelings, it s connection, it s emotions,of course the emotions are not as big as if we are REALLY in love, but there is feelings envolved, we don t do sex without feeling anything of course ( if we didn t feel anything why would we do it in first place???) so sex is a very serious and important thing, not to be banalized. i think we should left something special for someone special, because if we don t ,it s not special anymore, the person and the sex. people say im very pretty and i had lots of oportunities of ONS but refused all!!! casual sex? no thanks!! kisses for you

Just leaving Portugal today. I was for few days in Lisbon and I loved it. Portuguese women are amazing and extremely pretty. 100% my type. I find them approachable and not approachable at the same time. I'm IT guy and I was covering my Portuguese friend. All co-workers were lovely and carrying. Female co-workers gave me an office tour and always stopped next to my room for quick chit-chat. So fun to talk with, they like to chat and smile a lot. There is nothing that makes me melt so much as a nice woman smiling. On the other hand approaching women on the street or even finding someone on a dating up to show me Lisbon around feels impossible. Maybe normal women aren't on dating apps and I should look somewhere else. Also I only had few days so couldn't really hope for anything serious and didn't have any expectations for a real date. Rather finding someone fun to hang up with. I don't know if Polish men have such bad reputation. I know that Poland is considered poor but I checked some stats and our average salaries are quite similar to Portugal or even a bit higher. I'm not a typical bald construction yard alcoholic that is old stereotype about Pole as well. It seems that breaking the ice is hard but then it's fun to hang up with Portuguese woman. What I find the most attractive about them is that they are so confident and passionate. They also know how to dress well. They look very stylish and classy. While Portuguese men like our Polish woman I wouldn't mind exchange haha Actually I have 2 Portuguese friends in Poland and 1 has a Polish wife. I like women with their own oppinions with temper so it's instantly few points extra for a Portuguese woman for me. And that hard to break the ice and show me the effort thing makes them even more desired. I love to put an effort and when woman is challenging. When it's to easy it's not that fun and satisfying to make her your girlfriend. Cheers from Warsaw

Well shit, i am portuguese and i don't see myself in this video. Not even my friends or family members. Stereotypes are so boring or am i doing it wrong? Being portuguese? Should i reborn again in Portugal just as internet says? ;-; ahaha Now, i am not mad at all, but just for once, i would like to watch this type of videos and think ''i am just the same!''. But turns out, this is just like the capricorn video's i watch, ah ;-; -I hate when family calls to much on my birthday, imagine if they would always call me all the time. Sorry, it's just me. -I am not a jealous person. If you respect me. My boyfriend is brazillian and we get on just fine, we respect each other. -I love talking to strangers and helping people on the street! -I love to cuddle so much.

The Portuguese Man video. Was better and based on my experience a better example, and also funnyer. You have some Points, here and there. But there is more to a Portuguese women. Beginning with the family for instance, you will definitely hang out with her family a lot! Also I noticed that there`re quite some differences between native Portugues women and foreign Portugues women (like Portugues but grown-up in Germany, France, UK or the US).
@LadyDecember
@LadyDecember 6 жыл бұрын
You're right, there is a little bit of a difference between a foreign and native born Portuguese woman. My whole family is Portuguese, but they moved to Canada and eventually I was born and grew up away from Portugal. So while the cultural and family ties were still really strong, my Canadian environment also factored into who I am now.

430/5000 Seriously??? No, we're not like Americans !!! Latin America is so called because they were colonized by Portugal and Spain, and both countries speak languages that come from Latin ... so the "Latinos" of whom you speak are similar to us!!! We love sports, but we're not big basketball fans because we don't have tradition in this sport, yet we're crazy about football (usually speaking).
