Dative case in Russian language

1. Dative with Accusative case
I gave a book to my friend - Я дал книгу (acc.) другу (dat.);
It answers the questions to whom / to what. We speak about the recipient of the action.
He gives this book to me - Он дает книгу мне (dat.).
2.Dative with Prepositional case
I promised to tell them about the project - Я обещал рассказать им (dat.) о проекте (prep.);
It answers the question what about
3.Dative with Infinitive form
I promised them to tell about the project - Я обещал им (dat.) рассказать (inf.) о проекте.
