just getting my built a12 firing up for the 1st real time with the weber 40mm DCOE, still need to get it in tune, but it's running now, so i'm very happy!

Sounds so sweet with that weber

I had a DATSUN PL 620 PICKUP. It had a 40 mm Webber downdraft carborator. It worked well. It along with a small tube hi torque header, was good for about 20 hp

sounds awesome man and very very clean under the hood!

Ditto! Installed a DCOE40 & header on my `78 MG last year and only fired it up today for the first time. As you say, needs adjustment & I`m completely unfamiliar with this as it drips fuel beside the header. Hmmmm

Very nice, I love the weber sound, the one on my rolla does not sound as loud as yours,

Hi, I've got a similar setup on my Renault 8 with a single DCOE. But it's idling on the two inner cylinders, did you had any issue like this ? Thanks
@LunchboxDOTinc7 жыл бұрын
neverreally had an issue, but it all comes down to manifold design, luckily these A series manifolds are quite well designed, would still be optimal to run a pair however, i'll eventually make the switch to two of them

ignition time too advanced?
@LunchboxDOTinc3 жыл бұрын
nah ended up that the spark was too weak, with all the added compression (in the 13:1 range) the factory ignition just couldn't keep up, we did think it was timing related initially, spent a couple of days after hours on it, pulled it back down to make sure timing chain hadn't jumped a tooth etc. Ended up grabbing a pertronix electronic dizzy kit, with a new HV coil, ditched the ballast resistor and fresh low resistance leads and everything for it, just to rule it all out (headers arrived so slapped those on too at the same time), and it fired up pretty happily...

@@LunchboxDOTinc Jesus Christ. a 13:1 Compression Datsun 1.2L engine! I hope the internals can handle it😂 I guess increasing the compression ratio would be the only way to get some major hp gains with an NA engine 🤔

@@LunchboxDOTinc have you got plans to ditch the Carby and just install TBI's? and maybe low pressure turbo it but with a PFI setup?

Nice... serious deja vu going on there as I did the same sort of thing with a side draft DCOE 36. Also tuned equal length headers and (believe it or not---) a Honda distributor, which only needed a thin spacer to be a perfect fit. Ran it for a year, then melted a hole in #4 piston. This was clear back in 1987 (yeah, I'm old). Put two clutches in it during that year. Stock clutch couldn't handle the torque, I guess. (keep an eye on a/f ratio... learn to read spark plugs !) It was amazingly fast as (I'm sure you know) a 72 1200 doesn't weigh much. Enjoy !! I surely wish I still had a 1200. Thinking an inline K24.. turbo'd up with a sequential 5 speed. LOL... wishing is fun.

U over fueling it by gasing so much before u start, that's why it takes long to fire up

Not sure why you didn’t do what we did. You crack the blades slightly before you install the carb. Get it to run without the linkage connected first. Sometimes the linkage pushes or pulls and throws off settings. One carb should be a breeze. Try doing this with triples. That’s a little more fun to get right first time around. I posted a similar vid with triples. Take a look. Help keep Weber’s alive!

Hey buddy, it's running right now, there's a couple of other videos of it on my channel now, turned out to be not enough spark, compression was basically blowing out the spark, so stepped up to a bigger distributor and higher voltage hei... Fixed the issue
