Short drive with a draw through turbo L24 in a 280Z. T3 turbo and 2" Jaguar SU carb.

Looks cool... they really start to fly when you put standalone and a T3/T4 or bigger Turbo. I've been running my l28ET with a hx35 stock block lightly ported head ARP head studs and metal head gasket... its making about 400 horsepower for almost a decade now... I blow the head gasket twice...that's when I put the head studs and metal head gasket in. Don't do the copper head gaskets unless you're going to o-ring the block... anyway both times it was well over 20 pounds of boost closer 2 bar. So don't be afraid to turn it up. You should shoot for a bar of Boost 16ish degrees of ignition timing @ full Boost and like mid 11 AFR. Add 5 to 8 degrees of ignition timing if your on Race Fuel or alcohol.

@Jeff Carr I know not everyone is a fan of the LS, but it's cheap, reliable, modern horsepower with tons of aftermarket support.

You have a spark leak... clear at the beginning of the clip when the car is stationary

i think there is somthing wrong..when you boosting rpm get higher boost build up so the blow off valve should be close completely..when you release the gas pedal..blow off valve must be automaticly open to release the boost for shifting gear..

That is a carb, not a blow off valve. You're seeing the throttle open up as I accelerate.

Very cool Idea I've never seen the crown turbo for the Z. What motor is it running , is it a stock motor or modded. What compression ratio. And the exhaust manifold looks stock ???

E31 L24 engine with dished pistons, unsure of compression ratio. And yes, stock exhaust manifold.

Never got a chance to properly tune it before getting rid of it. SU needle would need a custom grind.

SU carburetor. This particular one came off a Rover.

I went back to the dual SUs for now. While the turbo is a neat conversation piece, not the greatest for cruising. It would need a custom grind needle in the carb to get enough fuel under boost, but not too much while cruising.
