@@EricTheHiking I really liked your vidéo, it reminds me some souvenirs, congratulations ..... I already lived in Riga in 2010-2011. When back to Latvia, I will focus on French soldiers who died there. In Daugavpils, there was Marshal Oudinot Corps in 1812 and one tank unit within Polish Corps in January 1920.

This video was so well-done. We are an American couple, who are planning to move to Daugavpils, after visiting there, this past spring. We really enjoyed learning more about Daugavpils, from watching your video. We know we'll want to learn the language. Any suggestions on how? Would it be better for us to learn Russian?

Good question. The Latvian language is necessary in order to get a job, although in some jobs it is also impossible to understand clients without Russian, especially in Daugavpils. If you are going to stay in Latvia for a long time, then of course Latvian is necessary. Taking into account Russia’s aggression, people now look askance at the Russian language and try to avoid it. Unfortunately, Latvian is only relevant in Latvia; in England it didn’t help me, but my knowledge of Russian came in handy.
