… that is exactly what my wife and I just posted, it’s as if the news channel shared the story to get ratings but didn’t want to step on the toes of a big conglomerate company so they just hinted at the device but didn’t give any names so not to step on anybody’s toes…. I’m sorry, but that just looks blatantly disgusting. How do you share a news worthy article but you leave out the most important part of the concept, the warning of a device that’s potentially lethal….? Editorial expulsion …. We don’t want to be sued for pointed fingers at the guilty party that are richer than we are.??? This is what America has become… in this woke world of ours. We need to be politically correct or nothing, we may be looked at as if we are racist, bigots, or “Phobes, of one kind or another, even when you’re not! We have to be politically, correct, we have to look like where with the masses,… disgusting what we’ve “ALL” in our, United States of America have SADLY become…………”

For all the people saying the daughter looked too upbeat with her dog, remember, this is a short and incomplete news story. I wouldn't be surprised if the cameraperson asked the daughter "hey, can you play with your dog for a minute so we don't end this video on such a depressing note?" As for burns, the story doesn't say whether or not she has burns, so don't assume she didn't have any injuries. The real issue is that the brand of the device wasn't named, there was no mention of how the device worked and what it contained, if there's been any recalls, etc. Lousy reporting. RIP to the couple.

@@kirchner1978 90% or 70% doesn't matter when it's Alcohol vapor burning, 70% just means you have to add a little more often when refueling (because the other 30% is WATER). I used Alcohol burners when I was 12 years old to mold plastic parts for Model Cars and Trains, and I spilled numerous times and I never got burned nor did I burn down Mom and Dad's House, in fact Alcohol, burns relatively cool, my buddy's and I used to cover our Hands with a little Alcohol and light them on Fire, it looked super cool but we never got burned, the fumes burned off within seconds. We used Isopropanol (90%) in the Printing Industry all through the 60's - 2000's, the smell in a Print Shop was VERY overwhelming ( like a Nail Salon ) NONE of us EVER caught fire because of Alcohol, isopropyl Alcohol needs to be exposed to a direct FLAME, it will NOT catch fire from a Spark ( Like Gasoline, Methanol or Natural Gas does).

This story stinks. That tiny “fire pit” fully engulfed two people yet completely spared a third? She used her hands to put out the fire but she has no burns herself? She’s awfully chipper with the dog shortly after the death of both parents. Smells like foul play to me.

@@user-hn6uy5gu4i a little weird that's what you got out of it. Lol she said she used her hands to put out the fire. Usually people show their injuries and what about damage to the porch??

I can't find the words to explain my shock and sadness over this horrific tragedy..this poor woman had to witness this happening to her parents, and what her parents had to endure..it's unthinkable..may they rest in peace, and I am praying for the daughter and the family🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️

True she would have burnt her palms and if so her hands would have bandages on them. How far were the parents sitting from the fire and she too was sitting nearby but she didn't get burnt even a little, how? May they rest in peace

I just read that this has been reported on since 2012. The firepots with refillable gel fuel came onto the market in 2009. Some fire departments do not recommend them. Shouldn't this be consumer safety knowledge? It also says the fire upon a person is nearly impossible to put out. Stop,drop, roll is ineffective.

Sounds very fishy to me. (Not the device... the story). Hopefully, there is an investigation and we will learn the truth.

I pray this woman can sleep at night and not relive the tragedy when she closes her eyes. Something I can't even imagine was her reality. She's very kind to take this personal nightmare and use it to help warn others. Godspeed to her, and may her lovely mom and dad R.I.P. Somehow they are still with her. 🙏 ❤

Reporter says it "exploded", the witness says it became a "blow torch". The two are not the same. Please tell the full story or don't, but do not tell some mutated bastardization of it. This is entirely unhelpful.

Sounds like a case of a reporter dramatizing the news, rather than trying to provide the most accurate version of it.

OK, I’m confused, the daughter, the news channel, Everybody is trying to warn the public of this device, but there’s not one word, not one mention, of what the hell the name of the device is, so how are we supposed to protect our loved ones if we don’t even know what the name of the device is? Are we attempting to be Politically correct? Are We trying not to hurt the feelings of a big conglomerate company? Inquiring minds would like to know. If you’re going to post something on the news, how about we not leave out the most important aspect of the warning, “ the name of the product that unfortunately took her parents lives…..?” “We are Truly Saddened by her loss, but if this posting was too worn others, it’s not much of a warning if you’re not going to tell everybody what product to be aware of…?”
@JeckelNotHyde25 күн бұрын
And how does that make any sense? If the news CBS News, any news channel for that matter is going to post an alarming warning for those style fire pits, they should have evidence that it was the fire pit that did it should they not? so all they did is put the fear out there. Those fire pits or those type designs have been around for multiple years now. Like I said in my previous post, nobody is gonna be sitting within 3 feet of one of those fire pits. Why would they? so for one of those to become a flamethrower that’s going to ignite to adult people approximately or at least estimating 3 feet away is simply non-comprehensible. There had to be something in that wood that was volatile and ignited at a higher temperature than the wood would have been naturally. It was irresponsible for any news channel a little on CBS to put fear out there concerning these fire pits without anything to back up the actual reasoning for such a tragic event …. Those fire pits are no different than regular fire pits. Anybody might have in their backyard except for the efficiency that they’re designed for when it comes to burning the embers from the wood….
