She didn’t send her parents anywhere. They are adults who saved to make this religious journey. The agencies failed to provide what was contradicted. Her parents were part of 1300 who died. Every year people die on this pilgrimage. They were unlucky to choose a scammer. She was told her parents were buried and don’t know where. Stupid to bury foreigners. I hope it wasn’t a mass grave.

This year KSA authorities enforced $1200 extra fees for pilgrimage .. those who didnt pay were not permited and thousands of them were deported .. howevere , they allowed hundreds of them eventually to enter a 23 km road leading to the holy edifice but it was like a trap to punish them .. Saudis are too proud to admit it ..

There is no next time for 1300 souls lost. There was not a need to for her parents. This was "We wanted to". When you save, plan and pay hard earn money, your expectations through that agency was to be provided services. That didn't happen. The agency failed them and they lost their lives. I can imagine the panic, confusion of seeking alternative resourses and none available. She was a nurse. They immediately went into survival mode, and no doubt trying to get to safety as best they could. My sincere condolences to the daughter not only for the lost of her parents but faced with never being able to bring them home for a proper burial. That is very sad.

Saudi Arabia places a limit on the # of pilgrims allowed precisely for that reason. One is required to have a HAJJ permit Visa to enter Saudi Arabia for the Hajj. This allows the officials to make certain everyone has safeguards and air conditioning and air conditioned transportation. The subject couple of this story was deceived by the Travel Agency, who never provided them with a Hajj permit Visa (though they promised it). This would have left the subject couple with no space on the air conditioned transport and no air conditioned accomodations. At this time of year, that proved deadly. So terribly sad. People need to stop trusting Travel Agencies.

Before traveling out of the US, please do homework on the country. Spending $20,000 for vacation without solid amenities is unacceptable. We as children of elderly parents have to ensure that they are making good decisions. Now, the daughter has to bear the burden of locating their dead bodies.

My deepest condolences first of all. I hope that you investigate their deaths because it sure sounds like foul play. I just can't believe that two people passing away at same time. This doesn't sound strange? Also, who is this agency that basically screwed them? Could they have done something bad to them thinking if they have that kind of money, that they have more? May Allah grant Jannah to your parents.Why not just sue the travel agencies for not providing the facilities as promised. The government of Saudi Arabia does not allow tourist visas to be used when performing the Hajj, but only Hajj visas is allowed. If you are caught for using a tourist visa while performing Hajj you will be banned from coming to Saudi Arabia for 10 years.

I completely agree. The Kingdom put out a statement mentioning that most of the people who died during hajj were unregistered pilgrims. So because they weren't registered and did things illegally, they weren't able to access proper facilities to cool down in the blazing heat. Tens of thousands of illegal pilgrims were turned away, but they can't catch everyone. This is another reason why it's so important to follow the rules. It's so sad for those like this couple who were scammed. But on the bright side, alhamdulillah, they died in holy lands.
