Its beautiful, the way she sings. Some of my earliest memories are watching cancer eat away and rot my sister's body as her soul fought to stay longer than her body could sustain. Profound sadness can find us at any time. Its how we process it and use it as a medium to make medicine that is of true importance.

I know this is an old comment, but in truth, sadness affects everyone. The difference is we dismiss it in the younger for such superficial reasons as 'you can always have it worse' and the like. Yet when this occurs to us as adults, it angers us greatly. In a perfect world, we would always protect our children from the things that cause them pain. But even in that world, it just means that their experience of sadness would be caused by the things they do have access to and as they've nothing to compare it with, it will be among the worst things they can understand. It's only as we expand our horizons and acquire ever deeper responsibilities that we begin to understand that the things we used to worry over were actually (often) minor. This is of course not including those who go through genuine traumatic experiences as children, but just those brought up in what are 'usually' seen as perfect homes.
