The only criteria Pakistanis and Arabs have for marriage is this: if the guy is a physician, a surgeon or a millionaires they will marry you. The guy has to be from the same village as the girl. Islam is third or fourth in line. I would love to see a revert American or European man married to a Pakistani or an Arab women. That is as unique as seeing a unicorn. It’s all about money, that’s all. I just wish if they were more honest about this fact during hudbas. Just say to young man, make sure you become a millionaire in order to get married.

The moment he said south Asia I had to pay 10X more attention because us South Asians know very well how toxic our culture can get and how further it has strayed away from Islam at times, even in Muslim South Asian countries

What about people living in joint along with sahu relations like brother and sisters. That’s where there is a deen and culture clash. Because we can’t just forget that our brother in law or sister in law are sahu relations for us. We can’t be close to them like our own siblings but still in indo pak culture that happens often. That’s where the culture thing is a flop, people have started treating culture as the MOST important because there parents and grandparents and grand grandparents followed. But what deen says about it is unimportant for people

Throughout my life I have known many Muslims, and where they are from there is no dowry. The daughters I was friends with did not wear hijab, were vegetarians, well educated and their family treated them like princesses. They lived at home until they were married. They were not restricted to marry within their own race, and their family believed that there is no difference between Muslims, if you are a Muslim, then you are a Muslim. My friend was fond of another Muslim man, he met her family, and their only concern that he was a righteous man and will treat their daughter well. The also did background checks.

Muslims today are literally handcuffing themselves to misery by not practicing the sunnah. If your only goal is to marry a practicing Muslim, that will open a lot of opportunity. But if your looking for a beautiful, rich, educated, same race , same country, same culture, funny, young, exciting, etc etc then for every one of these “requirements” you are limiting your options and making it more difficult then it was designed to be.
