This is on Dauphin Island. It's a really fun beach community southwest of Mobile, AL.

Dauphin Island is more of a quiet peaceful getaway, not an adventure, and locals will make sure it stays that way. AL born 67 yo, been there many times, it has its pros and cons and it is isolated, no actual grocery stores, few restaurants, no entertainment venues. Dauphin Island is best suited for seniors, not families with kids or young adults. Best family beaches with all the conveniences are in Gulf Shores and Florida. New laws in place now on FL and AL beaches encourage only family friendly environments. Sick of real estate channels misinformation about AL and FL beaches.

I have to disagree about not for young families with children. We have been coming to the island since my youngest was 7 and now she is 24 and my oldest is 32 with a child of his own and the grand baby loves it too.We love the quiet, secluded feeling on the island. We live in an urban/suburban area with a population of around 700-800 thousand people so we can do many of the things those other places have to offer anytime we want (minus the beach part).

@@davidmcfarlin88 Dauphin Island does not have as much for kids to do as Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, it can be boring for kids and teens. I have gone there for many years until the past 15, I dont live far away. Dauphin Island has been a victim of real estate developers for the past 20 years and unfortunately if they are allowed, they will ruin it like they have done with other Gulf beach communities, its already begun. Those of us that live within 1-2 hours of the coast have seen the demise and now go elsewhere, and we keep that info to ourselves.
