We camp every chance we get at Gulf State park and have often thought about going over to DI. We will definitely check it out now. BTW, this is the first video we've seen of yall. I LOVE your style of presenting the information. So many channels will talk for 5 minutes on a bit of info when 30 seconds would have been a plenty. Yall don't do that. Yall go straight to the info and you just got a new sub.

May I suggest one more category? If so, the drive to the campground. Sometimes I go to parks and the drive leading up to it is not fun. Either the roads are very narrow, there are tight turns, or the entrance to the campground itself is not easy. Thanks for showing us this place. Glad you had fun.
@RVAmerica26 күн бұрын
That's a great idea. We could include it with the roads in the campground. I know we have been down a few that we said never again. We already have a few recorded, but going forward we will include it. Thanks so much. Safe travels.

I haven't visited Dauphin Island in almost 40 years. I'm sure it's changed a lot since then. Thanks for the review. Cost is a big issue for us as we are retired and live in our coach full time. Do they offer monthly rates? $45 a night is $1,350/mo. which is almost my entire SS check, putting it out of our price range. We don't need hook-ups as we're setup for boondocking. Our large solar/battery system has allowed us to live off grid without plugging into a power pole or running our generator for the last 2 years. We prefer to boondock out West, but when boondocking places are scarce, like where we're at now on the East Coast, we like to utilize RV parks or campgrounds with inexpensive dry camp sites and monthly rates. We're wintering over at a convenient RV park while visiting family in NC. A spacious, no hook-up site here is only $100/mo. We dump and fill every 2 weeks just like we are boondocking on BLM or Forest Service land, but the park dump station is only 75 yards away, which is very convenient. It only takes us about 1/2 hr. to dump and fill so 1hr dumping each month saves us $500 off their FHU rates. I've got to admit this is the first time I've made $500/hr. tax free! Hope to see you on the road one day!
@RVAmerica23 күн бұрын
Oh wow. Sounds like you are all set up. We just got our solar this past fall and are looking forward to being able to boondock more. They do have a monthly rate here. I think about 600 a month. Not 100% positive. We thought it was great for the area. I, too, hope we meet up on the road sometime. Maybe even at Dauphin Island. 😊 safe travels.
@SuperSushidog23 күн бұрын
@@RVAmerica Thanks! $600 isn't that bad considering the location. We could swing that for one month since we're only spending $100/mo. this winter.

Hello, We live in North Mississippi and were blessed enough to also have a house on Dauphin Island for 6 years, sold it 2 years ago and now looking for an RV. We are new to the RV lifestyle and are looking at a 2021 Fleetwood 32 ft Fortis. What is your opinion on Fleetwood ? This one is very nice, less than 10,000 miles. Any advice would be appreciated.
@RVAmerica21 күн бұрын
Nice. I know you enjoyed your time on Dauphin Island. We really know nothing about Fleetwood. A good idea is to look up their Facebook group. They will tell you everything there. You can ask from people who actually own a Fleetwood. I do like that you are looking for a used one. We feel like we saved so much by buying used. You can get great deals, and someone else has worked out the bugs. Hope we meet up on the road sometime. Safe travels and happy New Year.

I've been down there three times, once in the motor home, and twice with the travel trailer. There are some sites that only have 30 amp, a good number that DO NOT have sewer, and on our last trip, My buddy and I asked if we could move, largely because of of the two sites was so tight under a tree and the concrete picnic table slab, that we asked to be moved. We picked a couple of sites and they put us in them. My complaint with the bath house is the poor design of the showers, that allows water to run into the dressing area. The campground was operated by the Parks and Beach Board, but the Town government took it over and the place has been steadily improving since then. The island is dog friendly so as long as you clean up after your pet, dogs are OK on the beaches or elsewhere. Sites need to be delineated better and have at least gravel pads. There are a lot of low hanging limbs that need to go. All in all, I love the place.

This was our first time there. I agree with everything you said. We totally fell in love with this place. It was just such a chilled out campground. We made reservations for a full month next year. 😁 Great comment. Safe travels.

Pin dropped on this one. The satellite map show it is a really short walk to the beach. This may have us switching from Huntington Beach State Park. They have gotten greedy at over $100 a night for a state park

@@RVAmerica South Carolina has definitely gotten greedy. Feel sorry for the people who live there you can not afford to camp in your own state parks that you pay taxes for. I could not imagine paying over $100 a night to stay in a Ohio State park.
