On a serious note, I very often think that those 'life hacks' from 5 minute crafts or other channels, are made to do some serious damage. At the léást to target teens and kids and make sure they lose a load of time, money and trust in humanity. Whether it is telling them to play (dangerous!) pranks on each other, wreck their own belongings or buy expensive stuff. Or children being encouraged to play with hot melted caramel on a turning mixer (goodbye face, goodbye eyes) children being told to hotglue their favorite items to their iphone. Putting *pure* glitter on your eyes with some *average* glue and tadah, beautiful (store-bought) glitter-make up! Encouraging kids to cut into their clothes, shoes and tie earphones around them or put plushtoys in cement, throw áll their lipsticks together for fun (to make one brown ugly colour) and to cut their own hair, very easily, with a pre-styled wig as the endresult. I mean, there's a reason those channels are from Ukraine, Russia and White-Russia and mainly target teens from America with American brands and it's all in bright colours with an American accent. There's a reason there hasn't been a "gay-craft" on one of those teenager-crafts or a gay teenager on the 'Funny stories teenager'-channels. It's all Russian and they have 'accidentally' posted some heavy-themed anti-democratic-American and pro-war-Russian content before, which they said was "just a joke." Also, when I post these things underneath their video's, I get messages from empty channels harassing me for 'offending the channel.' Next thing I know, I found myself on a 'relaxing video's'-channel, trying to blow off some steam after the troll-harassment...when I noticed those video's featured 2 or 3 horrific scénes in between, to make sure you kept watching. Like 'flowy water, bright coloured sponge, panicked barking dog, glass marbles, beautiful flowers, girl being slapped in the face, pigeons on the floor, more flowers, seal hopping around, someone pushing potatosalad through the holes of a croc-shoe with horrible worm-like potatosalad-shapes wriggling out of the croc-shoe, more flowers, etc. They do that on purpose, they know how to make you panicky again. My advice would be; Don't watch them anymore. They don't make you happy.

My favourite lifehack video is that one where they made cannonballs by pressing tinfoil into balls, dipping them in vinegar obvs, then microwaving it. Explosive results!
@justincoleman38054 жыл бұрын
That’s not a life hack. That’s a death hack.
@stuartforbes3 жыл бұрын
What Dave hasn’t explored is the fact that these rubbish hacks are rubbish deliberately. All of these life-hack or craft videos are like this because they get people commenting. 1000 comments saying ‘this is shit’ is worth more to them then 20 comments saying ‘oh I might try that’. It’s the same with those crafty videos. Even the really good ones where the end result is quite nice. There’s usually a string of things carefully placed to make people comment. The accompanying caption will invariably not-quite-describe what the video actually shows; the video will cut without letting you see the finished product for long enough, if at all, there will be a lot of wastage; there will be a part that the creator spends ages doing and then paints over it black for no productive reason; the crafter will use the wrong tool or part which anyone with a remote interest in the hobby will tell you is wrong. These are all very carefully placed. These people are not interested in making our lives easier or even in showing us how to create nice things. They are click-fishing factories that would sell their mothers if it meant you would comment on their posts.

Quite a few of the things in 5 Minute Crafts videos have been debunked on The King of Random channel here on KZbin. And a lot of the other ideas/hacks that they show are just pointless and absurd to begin with. They have several channels, too, and they steal a lot of their ideas from other sources.

some of the stuff they do though some are very misleading and false...and some are dangerous and tbh it annoys me those big channels do not get punished for the rubbish
@TheSurviver724 жыл бұрын
@@EastyyBlogspot I agree. People see these videos and they think it looks easy and safe when it's not. Another trick they use is fancy editing sequences that make it look like certain parts of the process are quick, when in reality it takes a long time to complete certain steps. Or they just fake the result. Here's an example of a FMC cooking hack being debunked: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5Kcm2ijnpejidU

@@TheSurviver72 Ann Reardon's debunking videos are great, and very entertaining. She tells you how a lot of the hacks could be done properly and safely, while showing up the ones that are dangerous or impossible (of which there are many). In addition to this, any cooking hacks that she tries are sampled by her husband, Dave. Even the most disgusting ones get sampled (check out the activated charcoal ice cream).
