Amanda Williamson I was at the concert at Milton kynes. The ff were well received. I remember Dave being surprised, saying that he thought people would be throwing cups of piss at them. My outstanding memory from the day was waiting at the port a loos when slayer started up. There was a really weather beaten Scottish guy who was busting to have a wizz. Unable to contain his frustration any longer he cried out “Ye gods man would ya urry up, it’s slayer”. That was 21 years ago.

I was laughing at EVERY part, especially now that he's gone -- it's all so precious now: the legs up on the sofa, the man-spreading, the correcting-details of Dave's story, the wolfing down food... Just the fact that they were so comfortable around each other, like an old married couple; there were no "airs," no protocol, just down-to-earth guys who would behave that way in an interview, no matter who they were interacting with.

So....way back in the 90s my band have just finished playing the Rock Candy in Seattle when the promoter introduces me to this guy he called “David”. David is really nice and is full of compliments about my band. He then hands me his demo tape and asks if I’ll check it out. It was about this moment I realised I was talking to Dave fucking Grohl and not just some fan of my band! I had to do my utmost to stay cool, calm and collected, all the way my heart pounding and knees giving way. The penny took a while to drop as I always thought he was quite short, which he really isn’t. That’s what happens when you’re in a band with that giant Novocelic! 😂 And yes, I still have that demo tape of the Foos first album plus bonus tracks, sweet!! 😜
