Potter's line at 7:44 is one of the most expressive moments I have ever heard in a solo. And the whole concert is amazing.
@elchacaldelzanjon310 Жыл бұрын
yeaaa u can hear and feel whats he just tryiing to express with his progretion, it has too mani tensions , can u hear ? its like inner figth and those thensions keep raising during his solo , more and more dark

13:11 this level of creativity is unreachable... He can play in a completly non tonal way starting from a semi tone tone like scale and just make sens with absolutly everything who came across his head and fingers. No matter what he play, either phrasing, or melodic system, or harmonic path or all of them together will just carry a very fluid expression and idea. When you slow it down and observ, it's like a maze full of changing forms, but so fast and massiv and absolutly mindfull. And of course all of that improvised, no intellectual crafting in real time because it would be already too late. How.

WOW...what a great concert, especially Veil of Tears! This is a return to the quality I heard on the Dream of the Elders tour w/ Eric Persson on alto & soprano sax and Gene Jackson on drums. Chris Potter has certainly matured into a superb talent, and Nate Smith is now one of my new favorite drummers! Masters of their Craft.

This is wonderful. A great concert. I had the privilege of meeting Dave Holland when he did a master class at the Univ. of Maryland a few years back. A true artist, gentleman, and down to earth guy -- and the show was incredible.

You gotta love Holland's tone ! I appreciate that Mr. Holland hasn't gone for that all wood thumpy no sustain tone that some young purists seem to be after .

Around 06', I found myself standing next to Dave at his gig at The Jazz Bakery in LA. I asked him if Stan Getz's quartet w/ Gary Burton on vibes ( 60's) inspired his use of vibes instead of piano or guitar. He just smiled & said his inspiration was Steve Nelson's playing; nothing more than that. I felt silly for asking such a question.
