Stevie just nails it , Dave isn't the vocalist that Stevie is. Dave is more of a songwriter with a songwriters voice.

Even as accomplished a drummer as he is, it still had to be a highlight of his career to lay down the groover for Superstition with Stevie.

You can tell Dave felt super humbled and in awe with the amount of love Stevie was throwing out with his words near the end. God Bless everyone forever! :D

It's amazing that Stevie's voice has basically stayed the same throughout the years.

@basstor14 жыл бұрын
I'm quite sure that Jesus plays drums. In a mexican mariachi band :-)
@anitafarren45904 жыл бұрын
Jesus DOES play drums = he's working through Carter AND the Mariachi band & the DMB! Because (in my opinion) God (& Jesus by extension) is in all of them - I always believed that Dave (& so many others like him) are channeling something so much bigger than themselves EVERY TIME they perform. I don't believe that all the great musicians have sold their souls to become what they are (although some probably have) Dave (& others like him) have humbly accepted a gift having been kissed on the cheek by God & there it was.

It's tough to jam those Stevie's songs just off he cuff like that. Yet Dave and his band of Merry Gentlemen did it so gracefully it seemed effortless.
@bahmanviolin29107 жыл бұрын
@Alex Knight: Sincerely doubt completely off the cuff... There is no doubt on Superstition that DMB practiced their asses off to sound that tight, maybe practiced on their own, but definitely was not improv. Dave had they lyrics in front of him too, horns definitely rehearsed the melody lines on their own too... and this is from the biggest DMB fan so don't get me wrong, they are the best, but this was not fully improv
@LiveMusic3156 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they have "been covering it". Although Dave did play this song in 2003 as part of D&F, this was the ONLY other time in history DM_ played it. Since this show, Dave then played it once with Stevie at a benfit he put on in Dec '17. So it has played it 3 times, in three variations of DM_ in 14 yrs, two of them in 2017.
@alhassirakhdugani58136 жыл бұрын
