You’re correct. Everything makes sense if you acknowledge the superstars are not as great as the media professes. Look LA and NY are vital to the revenue model of the NBA where the media is also compensated based on ratings. AD, Russ, Melo and to a lesser extent LBJ are overrated. Lakers have missed the playoffs 2 out 4 years with LBJ. His era in LA is over and it’s time to rebuild but without buying a superstar. That model is broken. Just look at the Clippers. The question as to can Lebron and AD win another championship with Lakers to me is absolutely! YES!! obviously health has been there biggest issue the past 2 seasons but I'm gonna assume they won't be as big of an issue next season. I'm also gonna assume they get a good coach and build a roster around Lebron and AD that fits. They do those things there back to a 50+ win team and championship contender and no offense to Phoenix, Memphis, Dallas , Denver , Warriors, Jazz but if those are the teams to beat moving forward i wouldn't be that concerned. If Lakers land a good coach, stay healthy and build a roster around Lebron and AD that actually fits they'll have no issues beating those teams. It's not the 73-9 Warriors or KD, Curry, Thompson, Green, loaded bench stacked Warriors they have to deal with. Keep Stanley, Reaves, Gabriel in which all 3 who are young 25 and younger all played very well defensively, offensively and always gave 100% effort and played there hearts out. I look at it a lot like Memphis or the suns you keep those 3 guys and they'll continue to get better and all 3 will be a big part of Lakers next year and for years and years to come. Then you look at trading Westbrook. Unfortunately he didn't fit the team but there's plenty of teams interested in him still despite what people have said including, Indiana, Charlotte, Houston, OKC to name a few. One mock trade was Russ , THT, pick for Malcolm Brogdon and Buddy Hield which if they can get that trade they need to do that. Imagine a starting lineup of Brogdon, Hield, Lebron, Gabriel, and AD. In which every player in that lineup is capable of hitting the 3 and spacing the floor and also that lineup is excellent defensively also aside from Bron that lineup is all under 30 years old. Now imagine that and a bunch unit of Kendrick Nunn who can give you 20+ a night, Reaves, Stanley, a veteran and then a young center. That and a good coach and this team is looking great and is mostly young.

There were so many factors outside of Vogels control that resulted in the lakers being absolute trash this year. Having said that Vogel contributed to it in many many ways. His lineups were inconsistent outside of injuries. He often made terrible adjustments. And worst of all he wasn’t able to bring the team together. At some point this season Vogel lost touch with his team. Fair or not this is the coaches job.
@laceup622 жыл бұрын
The lakers gave one of the best defensive coaches a bunch of old guys who don't defend. As for losing touch with his players I honestly don't see that. There's been reports westbrook was uncooperative from the start but that's westbrook. He was also given ariza, Bazemore, THT, Howard, and DJ who all played disappointing, so I can't blame him too much for his lineups when Gabriel, Augustine, and Bradley couldn't make a team at the start but the lakers were forced to play them. Palinka imo deserves so much more blame
@cheflev98842 жыл бұрын
@@laceup62 I honestly agree that Palinka deserves the most blame for putting together an awful team. I agree with you that Vogel didn’t have too many lineup options and that most of the players they counter on to be heavy lifters were a disappointment. Despite all of that and more being true I also saw Vogel lose many games because he didn’t make the right adjustments. He time and time again took out players that in the match up gave the lakers an advantage. Regarding losing his players, that’s a feeling that I have because the lakers just didn’t put in any effort for so much of the season.

Lakers had the oldest roster in the history of the NBA. Many of the players on the roster are way past their prime and are too slow to play defense and will not improve with age. Who among these old timers could improve beyond below average defenders: Ariza, Augustin, Bazemore, Bradley, Ellington, Howard, Melo, LeBron, Westbrook? LeBron ran out of gas and could not close many games that the Lakers could have won with a prime LeBron. AD shot 18% from 3-pointers this season. As a team the Lakers were below average shooters: 20th in the NBA in 3pointer%, 20th in the NBA in rebounding, 23rd in the NBA in defensive rating and 29th in the NBA in free throw%. Lakers need younger, better shooters, rebounders, and defenders.

That 2020 covid championship, no real Lakers fan cares about that. They won't remember that fondly. They want more! They want to see a championship in front of them in LA. LeBron will never measure up to past Laker greats.

if i ever see white dudes talking b-ball without proper black oversight visible in the frame i am going to call someone and complain. but i can't because that would be racist and transphobic. i'm still mad though.
