IMO, guys like Sean Ross Sapp are just as bad as Meltzer, with his enabling of Tony Khan’s bad booking, he’s just a more reliable source of information, but he strikes me as a guy who started watching wrestling when the product was already shit, so he thought that the stuff AEW is doing is mind blowing stuff
@jamesmiller53317 ай бұрын
Meltzer is and was more dangerous because of the sheer amount of time he had been around he had convinced people that he had credibility. I remember when the Bruce Prichard podcast started and the shit he would talk about Meltzer and I thought "well here is an office guy that obviously does not like the dirt sheets so I'll take that as a grain of salt" but then Here Comes Eric Bischoff and others echoing the same sentiment, and then here comes AEW and the 7 Star matches and yada yada yada and so armed with the information you saw current and recent events play out and you realize that pritchard, bischoff, and a lot of other people were right about Meltzer all along. Meltzer is nothing but a super fan with a newsletter. Even though he has a leech off of the WWE for over 30 years now it seems like he would have loved nothing more in the last 25 to 30 years to sink the company via spoiling everything. Meanwhile he protects aew. Why? Because McMahon treated Meltzer like the joke that he is and Tony Khan gives Dave access and respect. That's all you need to know.

lol enabling the booking? Lol. this is a low IQ take. How could they control his booking? they cant. Thus, not enabling you are only enabling if you have a say in the matter

Dave got famous by talking about Japan wrestling as if it was some sort of mythological universe at a time when most people couldn't watch any of it. He made it the land of Cryptids and when those Cryptids came to the us, none of it stood up
@MrKingkz7 ай бұрын
I love Japanese wrestling but I hate Dave and the way he puts them on a pedestal it makes them look bad and Tony's shit booking doesn't help it does happen the other way around too a US star gets put on a pedestal leaves the E and flops in japan but there is no Japanese Dave to make them look worse

Dave is helping book AEW. His defense of the booking is too precise to be guessing what the intent was for anything. He knows because he’s telling Tony what he should do every week.

Yes, I have thought this for a while. You can tell by the way he defends it like it's his own baby.

14:44 sums it up pretty well. AEW is Tony's vanity project/real life e-fed. Even Punk in that Ariel interview said that company's not a real business.

Investing tens/if not hundreds of millions over a five-year span to solely concentrate on a niche audience was always going to work out well for AEW…

When Mish said "Dave's in his alpha journalist mode". I laughed so hard not because I disagree with Mish. But because Dave actually thinks he is that.

Just the name All Elite Wrestling indicates that it's not a proper league, it's a vanity project and anyone who isn't on board with that isn't welcome. I'm sure Tony Khan's whole image of CM Punk before hiring him, came from the dirt sheets. When they figured out he wasn't just there to have his ego stroked he had to go. AEW is Meltzer's vanity project as much as it is Tony's, Jericho's and the Young Buck's.

Dave Meltzer getting buried by Ole Anderson while interviewing Ole is still IMO the greatest Meltzer moment ever.

My bet they're gonna release the all in footage of punk kicking the shit out of the elite and their stooges to try to pop a rating again. And all anyone will do just watch the first fan cam found on the internet then move on back to watching Monday night raw or smth

Anything out of Dave's mouth the past 5 years has literally been him just reading texts from the Buckaroos. Alvarez used to be funny when he would critize illogical booking, but the moment Punk came to AEW and his old Maria wounds resurfaced, he started parroting the parrot, and now that Punk's gone, he's trying to reclaim his positions that he was so quick to abandon to jump on the slander Punk train. He's just as much of a clown as Meltzer is at this point.
