The waybill system is largely human-generated and controlled. Destinations can be off the layout (e.g.,sent to staging) or a yard or an industry on the layout. In my case, when the waybill cycle is complete, the waybill is removed and the car card then shows an "empty return to destination" message that is usually a yard or staging. Personally, I control the cards a bit and do not rely on random chance. Otherwise, yards get clogged or trains are unbalanced. This help any? Dave P

I have been watching your videos on operation and are trying to introduce on my layout i understand the waybill system to a point, but for example how do the box cars come into a railway and yard? are there randomly generated?
