Why should Dave R. bend his rules and allow this family to get free publicity (which is the reason they applied)? Sounds like the main reason for applying is to get to write off a family trip to Nashville as a business expense. Sounds like they are trying to figure out another way to take the trip now. Maybe go buy some miniature cattle or miniature mules……

@Milan Velky If you don’t think that they are awesome, don’t watch them. Who cares? But to say that they should pay cash so that the hat vendor does not have to pay a transaction fee, is stupidity. If the hat vendor is agreeable, why should you be so hot and bothered? They get cash back as well from that transaction. Regardless of whether they pay by credit card or cash, the cost of the hats are the same. But by using a credit card, they get cash back. They get a better deal than if they paid by cash. It seems to me they are the smart ones and you are the one who has difficulty understanding their strategy. Like Thumper says in the Bambi movie, if you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing at all. Try that principle for a change. It might surprise you.

My husband & I have been debt free for over 7yrs. We have not owed anyone anything & whatever we NEED we pay cash for & if it's something we WANT...same thing, no cash, no go. We look at our neighbors going out boating, big fishing trips etc but are at home screaming at one another over bills & money. They have 7 rental properties they collect $5000/month for & STILL are too broke to even have enough money to FIX something in their rental homes. They're living way above their means. But while they're out their boating & spending money they don't have & then come home only to argue, fuss & fight me & my husband are sitting here thanking God we aren't living like that. We may not have the boat & other toys but we can go camping in our tent & pay cash for the entire trip & come home revived & happy.

I listened to Dave Ramsey for years (and before him Crown Ministries with Larry Burkett where Dave got a lot of his information). Dave doesn’t use any credit cards. Any cards used for his business are debit cards, and he has never advocated keeping a credit card for emergencies. Dave couldn’t control himself with credit cards so he doesn’t want anyone else to get caught in the trap. However, we are adults and should be able to decide what’s best for ourselves. I am debt free and I do have a credit card.

@Milan Velky If I'm at a location that takes credit cards and won't give me a discount for cash, Walmart for example, I pay with the credit card. @Milan Velky Not sure if that is a rhetorical question… Credit cards are a tool. If you are disciplined and have good credit, you can use a credit card to earn rewards. Paying off a credit card monthly is the same as having any other monthly bill. He said he doesn’t owe $ as in having a car payment, mortgage, or other high ticket item. If you’re point is that he’s not being honest, I think you’re wrong, but I guess you can have your opinion.

We've been debt free since 2018 and we still use a credit card that gets paid off each month. I think it's extremely disappointing that they wouldn't let you on because of the business credit card and that he doesn't understand there are exceptions in life and can't be more proud of those who truly worked hard to get out of debt because they don't follow every single bit of his advice.
@susannahhart3946

Oh…he understands alright. Dave Ramsey won’t let them do the debt-free scream on his show because they did not follow his exact directions. The Rigid Ramsey Rules were created (supposedly) to help people get out of debt. Honestly though~ sometimes I wonder~ is he TRULY helping people?? Or is he helping himself? If you were to become debt-free by using ANY of the principles set-forth in the Ramsey Rules…I would like to think that he would be the type of person to celebrate the success…no matter how you got there. This couple made it to debt-free…buuut they wandered ever-so slightly from the Ramsey plan. So now the storyline has changed…and the new one doesn’t fit Ramsey’s carefully crafted narrative. The proof is in the pudding, y’all. These two have effectively shown us that there def IS more than one way to skin a cat 🐱 and poor Ramsey won’t have it. Ramsey’s way: “MY way or the Highway.” Actual way: “My way or what’s BEST for ME.” The path to becoming debt-free can be a long & lonely winding road. But once you’re there…not a soul alive can take that from you…and that includes a Mr. Dave Ramsey. 😎

@@susannahhart3946 no utilities are not credit. You are paying for a service that your received. Like paying your heat and air tech when he come to service your HVAC. Love the new shirts!! That stinks about Dave Ramsey, you'd think personal and business debt would be separate anyway. It is very hot for ball games. Our son had his first season game today after the last three weekends of shootouts, excited for this cooler Oklahoma weather coming around the corner!

Dave Ramsey has an “image” that he created in early 90’s, when he was a one man show, presenting 1/2 day seminars on Saturday mornings, peddling his first book, and a daily radio show. Business to business transactions have changed in almost 30 years, might be a good time for Dave to upgrade to include a few methods for B to B.

I never know what I'd take away from your ramblings... every breath I take is an opportunity to learn something new! My kids are leaving the nest too and some days you guys help me get through that... I know you guys are going through that too and it can be peaceful just knowing you aren't alone. Dave Ramsey isn’t right about everything. The wealthier he gets, the creepier he gets. He claims his money principles are Bible based, but I’ve never heard him mention Mark 10:25 or Mathew 19:24.

Parts of that program helped you accomplish your goals. That itself is excellent! Do you know how many people don't have a clue that they can pay off their mortgage!? So use what you have learned to help others! That's what the the world needs more of. Not things that take advantage of them. (Not saying that's what that program does as I am not familiar with it) but there are others out there that do. I would rather hear it from you two personally. So have your own scream! You deserve it & worked hard for it! Congratulations! Enjoy your accomplishments! ❤

Y’all should reach out to Dave himself to get HIS opinion. And it would certainly be a great topic for his show as I’m sure thousands of others are in similar situations as you all are. Would be educational for everyone, especially if it hasn’t been talked about before. Personal and business are two separate entities! I would think Dave Ramsey himself would agree with that.
