I’ve been struggling so much mentally from old traumas from childhood and I know now that I’m an adult I am 100% responsible for healing now, we all are! If only we could just rip out the invisible weight inside of our souls. It’s not that easy, it’s work. Hard work.

Speaking from experience and not even through it all yet, the work is soooooo worth it.

I agree with what you’re saying.i know that sometime in my childhood something happened to me that permanently damaged my “ core personality.” It has made my marriage of 45 yrs very difficult for us both. I did some counseling in my 30’s and dealt with anorexia, compulsive obsessive disorder , perfectionism and was diagnosed as manic-depressive back then. But by the time I finished those 8 months I had to take a break ….. Life happened and I became a caregiver of children, disabled husband at age 62, that led to many surgeries, recoveries and rehabs, free daycare for my 2 wonderful grandsons and for the last 7 yrs, I had the honor of being my daddy’s full time caregiver on his journey of Alzheimer’s. No sooner did that caregiving role end and I thought I might have time for myself, then my husbands congestive heart failure has gotten worse and I am now his taxi driver to many more drs and physical therapy. So once again my life is on hold…… 8:25

Seeing this side of Dave helps me understand John being on this team more. Because honestly I was surprised when listening to him being on the Ramsey squad because he felt different from their usual. But seeing the softer side of Dave helps me grasp it better and John’s show has been great.

Trauma therapists talk about "Big T traumas" and Little t traumas". Be aware that you need skilled people for the big ones. The average therapist is going to be out of their depth. The worst ones think they are capable, and see things like dissociation, but harm you with their inability to see what you are going through. Search for skill. You may have to pay directly for that level of care. Worth it.

I’m glad I saw this because I’ve had this idea that Dave is a narcissist and I never liked him. But I never knew what he has done for people in teaching them how to be successful. I’m glad to see that he’s able to admit fault (something narcs cannot do), take accountability for it (also something they cannot do) and speak truthfully (narcs are liars) about his experience. Not a narc. Maybe arrogant sometimes, but not a narcissist. I appreciate hearing his story.

I've learned that when I've gotten frustrated with my daughters at their behavior or something they went through, at times it triggers something in me that had me overreact... then suddenly or eventually, I can look back and realize it was my fear that induced the reaction or response that was sent out harshly but was my heart cry.. fear that they will experience the same pain. What many parents wish their kids could do is bypass mistakes and pain. Right? So, maybe, when Dave gets "harsh" with callers and it feels awkward for the caller and even listener, perhaps it's because he has been through the muck so badly that his present wise but also present inner-younger self is truly crying out for others to "wake up" as he likes to say, but actually, he really means it. For callers to not have to go through the ache that he went through. I see you, Dave. *edit bc at the end when Dave praises John for what he is contributing to this show 👏🏆

Dave, I am moved by your humility. But "We don't spend over $500 without talking to the other one" made me CHOKE. Dude better let me know LONG BEFORE $500.
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
There’s levels to things. If you’re worth hundreds of millions of dollars $500 doesn’t change his world whatsoever. For example, $500 is .000005% of his worth if he’s worth $100M. To put that in normal people perspective if you make $100K a year that $500 is the equivalent of spending 50 cents. So it sounds insane to normal people but in perspective their boundaries would be a normal household checking in with each other about spending 50 cents. So it’s actually kinda wild that this is their rule because in their world that’s inconsequential but that’s the respect they have for it.
