But if your found selling or depending on the law growing over a certain amount, you will be charged. This is the Portugal model. They decriminalized all drugs. And also there that means you cannot be using the drugs in public.

I used to go to school high every day in high school. Well, almost every day. I once got reported to my principal's office by my first period teacher because she said she kind of smelled weed on me. I got brought into the principal's office and they were asking me all kinds of questions about whether I smoke weed, how often do I use it, did i smoke before I came to school, when was the last time I used it, etc.. I don't think they expected me to actually admit that I smoked weed, but I did. The only part I didn't admit to was using before I came to school. I told them that I do use it. I told them I do it almost every day, and I said the last use was the night before which was why my clothes smelled slightly instead of really strong. They (my principal, my snitch teacher, and the police officer who patrolled our school during the week) just stood there looking at me with their jaws open, probably thinking, "I can't believe this kid just admitted all of that." Then, I said, "So, can I go now?" The principal started to give a lecture and I stopped him and said, "You guys can't do anything to me for admitting to you that I smoke weed. I didn't use before school and I don't have anything on my possession, in my locker, or in my car. Simply smelling like weed isn't illegal or against school policy. So, can I go back to class now? It's almost lunchtime, and I got the munchies!" They had to let me go because I was correct, there wasn't anything they could do about it. One of the best days I ever had in school because of that moment making the principal and the snitch teacher look stupid when the cop had to tell them I was right.

Marijuana has been more accessible to underaged people than even alcohol or tobacco products for years now, well before legalization. When I was in HS, getting my hands just on a lighter was more of a hassle than getting the actual substance itself. It seems like many people genuinely believe legalization somehow makes it more accessible which is ridiculous. If anything, here in CA; teens are seemingly using marijuana even somewhat or slightly less compared to 10 years ago.

I don't smoke weed but I can't remember the last time I smelled weed while shopping or walking around. Cigarettes is pretty common though. People usually vape in public or hit a bowl in a corner with THC. My biggest problem is friends and family smoking it around me. I'm a SUPER lightweight and get the spins if someone exhales in my direction. Never been a problem even once in public.

I had a different experience from Kyle's--I did walk around high school high as balls on weed. That's because it was illegal and I could get it easily from a dealer. It's way harder for kids to get it now that you have to go to a dispensary.

If the THC level keeps going up, there's definitely going to be regulations coming. I've been smoking for a long time, and some of the shit is so strong that you don't just have a good buzz, you're stoned like you were your first time decades earlier, lol, and some non-seasoned smokers get so high they either think they're going to die or they have symptoms of psychosis. While these issues are the exception and not the rule, the industry needs to be sure to self-regulate or the feds will end up regulating it for them and we'll all be smoking shwank or going back to the black market to get decent weed.
