Robinson also has supporters and friends in the UVF, who not only groomed a girl but then shot her when she tried to speak out against them, and that's one of their lesser crimes.They are a proscribed terrorist organisation filled to the brim with middle aged white men who terrorise their community, collect protection money from local businesses and actually get paid a hefty sum of taxpayers money to organise 'community events' (Keep their crimes under wraps and stop brandishing guns in the street to make things seem more peaceful than they are) So please stop the crocodile tears about Muslims, I've never heard Tommy speak out against them once, because the spineless cunt knows better

@Shikoi735 жыл бұрын
@@humaneskits9318 So what you are saying is...expert opinion is still the best form of evidence. Because random people's opinion is worse than it. I mean, with the understanding that if you knew enough to not just be 'some random' you'd probably be held as something of an expert. Doesn't that prove the original point? Kinda a "democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others" type of argument.
@acceleration44435 жыл бұрын
humane skits Be very careful not to confuse "deferring to an authority on the issue" with the appeal to authority fallacy. Remember, a fallacy is an error in reasoning. Dismissing the council of legitimate experts and authorities turns good skepticism into denialism. The appeal to authority is a fallacy in argumentation, but deferring to an authority is a reliable heuristic that we all use virtually every day on issues of relatively little importance. There is always a chance that any authority can be wrong, that’s why the critical thinker accepts facts provisionally. It is not at all unreasonable (or an error in reasoning) to accept information as provisionally true by credible authorities. Of course, the reasonableness is moderated by the claim being made (i.e., how extraordinary, how important) and the authority (how credible, how relevant to the claim). The appeal to authority is more about claims that require evidence than about facts. For example, if your tour guide told you that Vatican City was founded February 11, 1929, and you accept that information as true, you are not committing a fallacy (because it is not in the context of argumentation) nor are you being unreasonable.

@@Halesburg Not exactly no. Look, I had a good idea about what Rubin was doing, but I most certainly hadn't seen hundreds of hours of his dross. Now I've seen a bunch of the highlights and it confirms everything I thought and also pointed out things I hadn't thought of. It's kind of like anyone who does youtube videos, documentaries or journalism, they make a case for something, try to persuade you of something, and if it's well done they might succeed. I assume you have seen the full series? Are you disputing any of the points?

@@christiangudmundsson8390 So as David says, he tells you what to think. You play teamsport, and have been told to hate this guy, and you obey. And you do that, while being uninformed. How sad. We really need a voting test to weed out cultmembers who knows jack shit about politics.
@jNe4l5 жыл бұрын
@@dnciskkk9037 Alright, I'm a free thinker interested in ideas. What ideas in the video did you specifically feel were misguided? Your voting test idea seems like a good one at first glance, but how could we apply something like that in the real world without it devolving into an easy way to weed out people who disagree with us? Imagine the commie left using it to silence free speech! I understand you aren't from the US, but something like you've described has already been tried here to dismal results so I don't imagine that idea garnering much support. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literacy_test But at any rate, and for the benefit of any confused readers looking to be told what to think, where do you think the video series we just watched went wrong? I don't remember being told to hate Dave Rubin so I'm not entirely sure why you would come away with the idea that something so simplistic and unhelpful was a focus of the video. I'm just interested in ideas here.
@dnciskkk90375 жыл бұрын
@@jNe4l I have an issue with all the lies in this video. The guy is a total liar, he is working for TYT. The literacy test has not been honestly discredited. It is sensible, that voters have to be proficient in the language, new citizens should have to learn the language to vote, otherwise they are not living in society and cannot inform themselves on issues. Waivers for the ones with dyslexia of course. And the voting test I float is a test on political issues. 20-30 of the biggest issues,a proposition floated. Agree or disagree. Then you add it all up, and you get the result on which candidate you agree most with. If that does not fit with the candidate you say you are voting on, then you do not get to vote. Very simple. Media actually created such an online test for voters, and it really changed our politics, leftists abandoned the labour party in droves, and we got a conservative government that we have had for 7 years, that is growing stronger and stronger by the year. Media went to the voting offices and did the voting test on voters, then presented them their result before they voted. Turns out that the majority of the labour voters agreed more withy the party they called racist and was never going to vote for. Then they were asked if it changed anything. They just laughed and said they did not care if they voted against their own convictions. Those voters are not fit. The video went wrong in the opening of episode 1. This is sad manipulation of the truth. This is TYT propaganda. Very sad. And you know the big issue. The fact that he takes all the clips out of context and call people all the new isms, phobias, and haters, and the old one3s like nazi, racist. Then try to make Rubin a sympathizer with those things. It is pityful.

I thought the first two videos were really good but thought some of the punches didn't quite land. However, I think you completely hit the nail on the head with this part. You expressed the weakness in his approach, how it mainstreams fringe views and how it bypasses an otherwise typical person's scepticism. A view I would not have been able to express before but I realise now I strongly agree with. Not because it validates my views, but you brought that out from me so thank you for that. An impressively precise analysis.

I'm astonished at the restraint, research and the overall structure on display in all three parts, Timbah. From this viewer's perspective, all the time and effort you put in pays off handsomely and made this final part the most hard-hitting for me as a result. I stayed up until about 2am yesterday watching them all through a fog of exhaustion. As in all things Dave Rubin, his true nature remains elusive throughout (as he seems to intend) so, by necessity, a great many assertions about his values and motivations must be negatively formulated. I think you've done a stellar job that you can take pride in. Maybe the sound-mix could be a bit smoother? Otherwise I have nothing but sycophantic praise.

I really wonder if he's even aware he sold his soul. He seems so feeble-minded that he likely believes everything he's saying, and feels like he's part of a legitimate intellectual movement. Dave Rubin, to me, isn't necessarily a shill or a cynical bad actor; he's an idiot desperate for a set of rules that he can follow that confirm his inclinations, and he's picking the side that makes him feel glowiest right now. Despite being the one in charge, I think he's taken in by these people in the same way as many of his more intellectually vulnerable viewers.

The difference between Dave and Joe is that Dave is zealously providing a platform for people who don’t really have one as a mission and Joe is just having fun with it and doing his own thing. Dave takes his role to be a platform provider while Joe is more of a content creator so Joe wants the interview to have some pushback, and since he has plenty of innate aggression (unlike Dave) he is able to grapple with his guests thus adding depth and value. Dave is so one dimensional yet earnest that he evokes waves of cringe.

I assume the content is well-discussed in the comments, so I'm just chiming in to express appreciation for the attention given to the visual and musical components, which contribute more than the casual observer might realize, and make this into something that transcends political or media analysis, taking it to a plane of artistic expression that is rarely seen on popular media. I'm not prone to gushing like this, and it's frankly embarrassing, but wanted to make sure you know that all that effort and talent and time spent was time spent well. You made something beautiful*.
