The chair may not be his son, but Blanket is!

"The chair is not my son" was also on the cover of a 1984 Flaming Carrot comic book.

OMG - this includes the episode with the Billie Jean "CHAIR" bit! Ha ha ha ha ha! I haven't seen this in 33 years! Thank you again, Don! :)

Todd Merrell My friends and I STILL reference the “CHAIR” bit all these decades later. I’ve always loved Letterman, but IMHO the bits from these early NBC shows were just funnier than those from the later CBS run...more raw, and with a relatable seat-of-the-pants feel. Thanks for all the uploads!

I came here for the Chair bit, too. Timeless Letterman.

The best years for that show. I like how the band goes to commercial break with the Beatles’ “Baby You Can Drive My Car” after Letterman plays Shatner reciting “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”

15:04 Americana ... 15:20 "... to become independent. Independent. That's a big word meaning 'doing your own thing'." ROTFLMAO! There is "Dave's Record Collection" and then there's "Don's Great Letterman Collection." Always a great go to for an end of day pick me up. Thank you as always - your work is appreciated Don! (Herve Villechaize ... LOL! "Why" certainly does come to mind!)
