I used to say that Oakenfold, Sasha and Digweed were the best, and I will say it forever. But I just discovered Dave Seaman. His GU 16 work is absolutely genius. He's up there with them! genius genius genius!

Oakenfold has great track selection but fell off my list when I saw him play live and he had someone beat matching for him. For me it’s Sasha and Digweed, Dave Seaman, Danny Tenaglia, Dave Ralph, Nick Warren and a handful of others.

Pretty much all the djs that had GU releases in the late 90s and early 2000s were pedigreed in the house scene...especially prog. First real full dj mix I bought was Digweeds GU Sydney. From there, discovered Sasha, Warren, Emerson, Lawler, Kleinenberg. This was truly a special tome for house music.

The transition from The Fall into Horizons WOW. Instant goosebumps and tears streaming down my face. Love this era of dance music, long live soulful deep heavy uplifting & dark prog.

I recently relistened to a load of old GUs, of which this was one. I was amazed at how well the earlier ones hold up and how some of the early-to-mid twenties ones don't, because they went all tribal progressive and, for whatever reason, and for me at least, tribal seems unlistenable these days (as much as I used to love it). Consequently, I found Seaman's Melbourne offering a really hard listen. Capae Town, though, is class and I can't imagine this getting old. That reprise of Way Out West's The Fall right at the end is lovely, too!
@MA-wn5ci6 ай бұрын
I’ve been doing the same. I agree this is the better mix, but I think it was more the mainstream vocal and pop-ness of the tracks that spoiled it. Not anything tribal. Danny Tenalgia’s mixes all hold up quite well. Maybe even aged like wine. they ate quite tribally, not to mention max graham, Pappa et. Al.
