I bought my "spike shoes" two years ago at the tender age of 31. On the VERY NEXT day after buying them, I decided not to wear them yet, went outside and slipped. Took a hit to my knee, twisted a thing inside it and couldn't operate quite normally for the next 7 or so months. So take the word of this seasoned adventurer. Buy the spikes for your shoes... and use them.

7:16 Wiener means Viennese (in German), Wien is how you write the name of the capital of Austria in German and in Finnish. So Wiener-pulla (or viineripulla) is Viennese pulla. In Finland, viineri refers to a certain type of sweet pastry, typically no pulla, though. They are typically made out of puff pastry. Despite the name, they came to Finland from Denmark (I think in English they are referred to as Danish pastries), who got them from Austria.

You can use "nastapohjallisia" on your shoes any age. You only have to "jaksaa" take them on and off many places because they arent good for floor. I think that is one reason why "younger" people dont use them. They use them only when they feels that they really need them. I use them sometimes but now i dont know where they are so "tyhjästä on hyvä nyhjästä". And i am youger than you so i would say that use if you feel that you need them.

Everyone regardless of age should own spikes for shoes during winter in Finland. You can buy shoes with spikes already included, get the strapped ones or even add the spikes yourself. It's very cheap insurance against broken bones when the ground starts to resemble a skating rink. But be warned that you don't want to walk inside buildings with the spikes on as the spikes can damage the floor or be VERY slippery.

Get the ice spikes! I'm 30 and have been wearing mine on skating-weather for 6 years😂 The flip spikes built in winter shoes are probably the best investment for city living: discreet and quickly disabled (I think young people should not wear spikes indoors/in public transport, old people get a pass for maybe stomping a few holes in the floors if it keeps their slow-healing bones unbroken) Personally I have the over-shoe rubbery "sock" thingies with spikes on heel and toe. Good to wear with different shoes: rubber boots, pretty winter shoes, even trainers or whattheheck Crocs if you feel like it. Awkward to take off and carry around indoors. Have a risk of wearing them inside-out (spikes against shoe) which is even more slippery than without😂 Definitely recommend spikes on both heel and toe. Ice is slippery under both. If you get spikes get _enough_ spikes📌📌📌📌📌📌

High beams aren't the problem with Finnish drivers. Using the turn signal *before* starting to turn is the biggest problem with Finnish drivers. It's so common that I have wondered if they teach it this way. It's like, mirror, manoeuvre, signal instead of mirror, signal, manoeuvre. Zero concept that the driver behind might appreciate 5-10 seconds warning instead or 0-1 seconds.... I really don't get why people don't understand that the happiness report is about quality of life, not personal happiness... The hand bidet is about having a squeaky clean arse every time, without the need to flush half a roll of toilet paper into the sewage system. It is the number one Finnish thing I miss when abroad. Sorry, anyone who thinks it's socially unacceptable to have spike shoes (attachable or permanent) in icy weather deserves the hospital time.

I'm still saying that the "happiest country" is bogus. Finnish narrative and "humbleness" is full of negativity. They even make it a joke and a norm. Needless to say, I've never felt like I belong here, or I would be 100% Finn at heart. I'm not a fan of the darkness or cold, I don't like salmiakki, sauna is nice but still usually too hot, I don't like the usual Finnish liquor (especially clear ones), I don't like the constant negativity and complaining, I don't like the small talk about weather.. or coffee, and I don't smoke either. This is still my home since birth, so no one come at me with "move away then" shit. I won't. But Finnish narrative is very negative, even slogans from the past.. so that's why I also think that the happiest country shtick is just that.. a shtick. Nothing more or even truth. And that humbleness can also sometimes be lack of respect as well, so there's that. Edit: Actually, one thing I do like about winter. No.. those.. god damn.. mosquitoes.. for many months!!
