This is a short video talking about basket options and fill rates, with and without a puck screen. Tomorrow, I will do another shot, this time without the puck screen and you can decide the pros and cons of each approach. I may even do 2 more videos using the standard puck screen that comes with the Evo2 (with and without puck screen).
The puck screen is actually 1.7mm thick and I purchased it from Amazon it was 4.99www.amazon.co....
The Basket I got from ebay...I'm too cheap to buy an IMS one. It was £7.70 www.ebay.co.uk...

Ims B662Th26M are my go to on the Evo, great basket 17g dose with or without a mesh screen depending if you have the safety system fitted or not👍👍

Do you think that all the stuff about precision baskets etc is nonsense and that they make little difference to the shots? You are certainly right about the cost. I paid about £30 each for IMS baskets for my Elizabeth's.

I think there is a lot of hype around them...I do have IMS and VST competition baskets...but to be honest I just use whatever is in the portafilter. The 26mm basket is not a brand and I got it from Ebay...seems to work fine. I think buying branded accessories that look nice makes people happy...so fine, but for people on a tighter budget...they are not really necessary. All of the puck rakes, levellers, precision click tampers...etc. Not really necessary.

@@DaveCorbey The reason I changed from the standard basket (made by IMS) on the Elizabeth was because abuse I was getting the puck stuck on the shower screen quite often. The VST ones I bought were slightly straighter and claimed to have a non stick coating. The change certainly helped and the pucks stopped sticking to the shower screen. Curiously it happened again yesterday with the first shot I made after we get back to France. Same coffee and it was only 2 weeks since we had been here. Odd.

Very interesting! I usually get soggy pucks and it drips for quite a bit. I will definitely try this out.

@@DaveCorbey I’m waiting for a 26mm basket at the moment. But I did updose in the standard ACS basket and that indeed worked better! But I personally prefer dosing around 18-19mm so I think the 26mm will suit me better. Thanks for checking in!

@@DaveCorbey so first try with a 26mm basket and the result is like night and day! Way less dripping after the solenoid release and a nice dry puck which comes out nice and clean! Thanks a lot :)

@@brettb1 Ah yeah, my bad. I thought he meant that he got an IMS basket from ebay, but apparently it's a differenty company.

I use the one ACS supplied...It's a good fit. For E61 machines, I still use my 24 year old Reg Barber US curve....I have many tampers, but that one is my favourite and what I have used exclusively. I think Reg Barber has started making tampers again...so I may see if I can buy a US Curve tamper for my Evo2.
