thanks for sharing,!!!! just a quick one -> instead of setting a cue point + chnging it for a beat grid marker, you can click on "beat grid" section (move/cue/grid) and set a beat grid wherever you want by pressing BG button - no needs to change "snap" setting etc.

Awesome video I’d like to also include the if the line for beat one is off make a new cue point on beat one (let’s say cue5) an change cue one from grid to cue an change the cue where you placed on beat one (cue 5) change it to grid then the song should be aligned up proper (since you can remove cue one for timing)

Totally awesome explanation the best ever in the whole world wide web. Especially the part @7:14 how to beat grid with drifting beats. I Dj Latin and Caribbean songs and these genres have live instruments and here beats drift a lot. I haven't come across such a good tutorial before. I think it could work for me. Great video! Thanks for making this! How do you enable the master clock @6:53 to sync your decks to? I use parallel view and don’t see that. You basically use that as the “master” instead of making a track the master track, and can sync all decks to it throughout the set?

Thanks. I use the master as the sync for all my decks and i can then change the master tempo at any time, knowing all 4 decks arw the same and i have a visual always in one place. Hope that helps.

This is the 3.0 version. The update(3.02) removed the in/out markers(to the left of 'active' loop function) which also was a good way to beat grid on the spot as well. Erased my 3.0 dmg by mistake,lol. I got hooked to the filter fader efx so it's sort of a bummer to go back to 2.11.3 so doing the beat grid on spot (I have thousands of songs with live drums) with the update will take more patience

Mix I just reread your comment and in/out is still in the new update. If you have a 13" screen you will need to change the screen view to extended or essential (can't remember which). Hope that helps

What I had to do on my mid 2010 15" MBPro was uncheck the eq & crossfader, That allowed me to see it & the eq features still are the same with access to the eq on Vci 400. I still think traktor pro 3 has the best UI BPM algorithms and beatgrids. I have incorporated conversion software alongside MIK to get my Keys and cue points into my traktor pro 3 collection with very pleasing results. MIK seems pretty onto things with their cue points! 👍

5:03 Can you clarify, I'd think you'd almost always want cue points to align with a beatgrid so you'd typically leave SNAP on, right? By not setting the cue point on top of beatgrid, aren't you telling Traktor to start playing slightly before the bar's downbeat? What is advantage of that? Sorry maybe this is a subtle point not clear to newer users.

Some tracks especially using older analog gear can have slight drifts in tempo throughout the track, so a single beatgrid set by one starting beatgrid marker at single BPM for whole track doesn't work. I'm guessing that at a couple parts through the track you'd have to add additional beatgrid markers so that you can align the beatgrids between the markers independent of the others?

Hi Nik, Make sure you have your headphone cue on, on the mixer and then if you have a mk3 then hold grid and press play and you will hear it. If you don’t then press the headphone icon as in the video. Let me know if you need anything else.

I'll give that a go cheers 👍👍 I've been running a Maschine mk2 from the line out on my pc (built in soundcard) to the mic in on the S2 mk3 to use as a live input, then out of the S2 to my AV amp. I bought an Audio 6 hoping for a cleaner routing solution, but it doesn't seem to offer any..in fact if i run everything through the A6 I end up with a delay when monitoring through the headphones..am I being thick or is it a case of sticking with the simple way, that works. To note, as I said I am a complete n00b..can barely barely compose a beat, just enjoying the gear 😁

subscribed, there's even an easier way to mix in grid with a playing music that shifts grid like new wave music, the grid is ok at start and start to shift in the center or the end, and you have a perfectly grid next song, i usually map the tap feature of the players, and tap the playing music where the grid is not aligned on the playing music you;; be surprised the grid will instantly move so you can proceed mixing in the next song on the other players, so easy. it only need 4 to 8 taps to move the grid hehehe, specially when the playing music is not really metronomed or not EDM, TAP feature is very powerful like me i have no controller, use only keyboard remapped, i could use bend button but the TAP is better, TAP on the player where the music looses grid while playing hahaha

Hi Nicholas. It’s not possible to beatgrid a whole song that moves in and out of time in the traditional sense. The way I would grid it would be using the cue points at particular parts in order to ‘reset the tempo’ and only grid a small part that I might want to loop.

n00b question... your method at 5.40 what if the track continues to drift as you go along. how many times can the cue/grid bit be done for a whole 8min track? I'm finding this with a track where I know the BPM is correct (checked with a few sites) yet the beat markers just aren't matching. the technique 5min40sec in helped the most though

If you are sure you have the correct bpm in the grid and it’s still drifting you can technically set another best grid from that drift but traktor isn’t really made to have multiple best grid markers to adjust the bpm in sync. I personally would get the beginning and ending as best you can for best matching and then manually use the jog wheel where necessary. It’s never a perfect science so using your ears are the best option.

I have exported my MIK data,Cue points etc to traktor pro 3 and wish to keep them so do I just need to adjust/and or set the 1st MIK cue as a beatgrid/downbeat marker(white triangle) and then check the rest of the 7 MIK cues/beatgrid then lock it?

Yeah that’ll work. Just make sure you’ve ticket the option to export all data and you’re set. Better than that, if you are using the music directly from a usb stick it will automatically save to it.

Hi Dave, I was able to correctly beat grid and adjust a loop by moving the grid like in the video and pitting it in the remix deck.. The Problem is that it permanently changed the BPM of the original song, 1, I don't recall what the original BPM was.. Is there a way to revert to the original? 2, The loop plays fine but is no longer within the same BPM of the original song.

So sometimes it freaks out when you move it. If you refits the song by removing the grid cue and reloading it, it should reset the bpm and then you can manually type the bpm in the sample in the remix deck.

I’m having trouble trying to grid a track by Joshua Ryan “Pistol Whip” The beats become way off 3/4 into the track. Don’t think traktor analysed it incorrectly it just seems to be one of those tunes I think that I am going to have to put another marker in towards the end or adjust the BPM? See if you have any luck trying to grid it as I want at least 16 bar intro/outro of this track as part of my set. I will email you screenshots of this tracks waveform at start of track and when the beatmarkers start becoming all unaligned.

What if a song you set the bit grid from start everything is OK but you notice the grid changes moving 2 or 3 minutes forward the song what's going on ? How you fix that having an issue with a track !! HELP notice the track was perfect with the first Cue Point the one in white but then when I try to do my mix with the other songs the beats dont match at all.

You can technically set more than one beat grid cue points to help with the movement but tbh it will never work how you want it. So my advice is to either set the beatgrid at the beginning and then manually beat match at the end or vice versa.

If you have the grid marker further down the song but you want it to load at another point of the song, then you use the load marker. Hope that makes sense

Spot on. The only cue marker to effect the beat grid is the grid marker.

so i have a question, what if you want to have the beat grid line up on an entire song that has an inconsistent tempo? (old funk songs that were played live without a click) rather than just looping one portion of it. can you shift the beat grid lines independently or do they always all move together?

Great question. You can kind of do this by making multiple best grid markers but it’s a pain because if you change one earlier in the song after doing it you will have to start all over again. Plus it makes the song push and pull and can sound odd. Rekordbox is better at doing this then traktor. Tbh if I was doing it I’d put it into ableton and warp it properly then export. Hope that helps.

Yes you can do two things. 1 turn off the option to make it an auto cue and just have it as a cue or don’t analyse the track at all when putting it in the deck.

You can select all your tracks and right click and analyse. It will do a good job but won't guarantee 100% correct depending on the size of your transients.

I heard traktor has a 99% accurate BPM’s algorithm and considering I only have EDM(trance,rave techno,prog) music files then once I correct and lock any necessary beatgrids then I shouldn’t have any issues then with “non flexible” beatgrids?

Traktor is very good and yes 9 times out of 10 with those styles of music you should be fine. Always good to know how to fix them just in case as no software is perfect at it. 😊

Left TP years ago... Went to Serato.... Got bored with mixing a few tracks together, so built an entire NI setup.... Why does Serato analyse tracks so perfectly, and Traktor fucks it up royally?!?!... On the simplest 4x4 beat?!? .... I'm going back to cassettes.

Followed all your instructions and no. Still massively out after a few seconds... Only happens on Strings of Life (Danny Krivit Re-Edit) and Right Here, Right Now (CamelPhat Remix)... The rest of my set is fine.

Good video but you're going through so many extra steps to get to the same place. If you just go to grid from the start find your first beat and then just press the white anchor it will do the exact same thing without the extra steps. Just my two cents

I agree Chris to a point, but your way only works if the Traktor can work it out correctly the first time. I’m showing you how to do it using the internal metronome and if Traktor cannot beatgrid it correctly.

Sorry no offense but I honestly just can’t fathom how in order for me to take 1 step forward I may run the risk in ending up having to take another 10 steps backwards all because of vague conflicting info on KZbin videos. I was just watching another KZbinrs video regarding beatgrids and then I hear this guy say that under analysis settings(special) he leaves the “set beatgrid” checkbox unchecked....after initially being told by another KZbinrs video(MIK intergration with traktor)to actually ☑️that box? Look I know everybody is responsible for checking beatgrids but being told 2 different things by these people on their KZbin videos is what I mean about fear of now having to take 10 steps backwards sort of thing. Anyway..... I should be able to continue on with just checking/adjusting the beatgrids in traktor regardless of MIK intergration with traktor settings as I am still beat gridding with snap feature switched to off anyway aren’t I so it shouldn’t matter?

I don’t mean to confuse. I’m showing you how to beatgrid something that doesn’t automatically beatgrid properly in Traktor. If you are playing 4 on the floor music (e.g. house) then traktor is extremely good at doing it without any need for intervention. I don’t change my beatgrid unless I have to and I leave snap on most of the time, again unless I’m doing something specific. Feel free to ask anything else you need at [e-mail]

This traktor 3 is blocking my computer . I can't change another control live. And I can't work the out Sistem... I think is realy bat. Traktor 2 is bether. Traktor 3 bloquea mi computadora. No sé puede cambiar de control (o desconectar por accidente) cuando está en función. También no funcionan los comandos out, para programar efectos visuales. Para mí en mucho mejor traktor 2
