Michael Knesevitch da fug you taking about boi? That’s freaking Blitzkrieg!!! Use your armor to attack weak points in the enemies line and perform a breakthrough and either (take strong points behind enemy lines) or (turn your tank ass around and encircling your enemy forces). It can be done and done fairly effectively in this game depending on your tank unit structure, generals in place and position of your army.

It’s not that difficult. You probably just have garbage divisions - use lots of AA and medium / light tanks to flank. Even a small amount of AA will knock out any semblance of a Soviet Air Force and Soviet Units tend to be infantry heavy so build lots of mobile art on tank templates.

Well I basically built a large army and attacked, at first I was doing good because I was allies with baltics and finland then we took moscow and everything went to shit and the war went to stalemate for long time then it did a weird thing and restarted like all the troops in the front line where in germany for some reason so I sended them back and we continue and after few minutes I took all victory point and won with 14 m casualties and I think the soviet casualties where between 22m-23m

Try capitulating the western allies first then send every division you have to the East. So you don’t have to worry about naval invasions from the western allies. Also gives you more nations to help you out. But I’m a noob at the game right now so if you don’t try what I say I don’t blame you lol

Executing Operation Barbarossa in HOI4 nowadays is so much more complicated than this. You need to think of oil, your airforce, and really be intensive in terms of conducting encirclements. If done right, the Soviet Union can go from ~400 divisions to under 200.

I find that if I save the Soviet Union till last in Europe, I can focus all of my forces. My general strat is to make a full front between me and USSR, and then with a defensive infantry build assigned to a Field Marshall on the front, alongside 2 or 3 panzer/mot infantry divisions to generals that will sweep from the north and south ends to around Moscow, usually making the capital in Leningrad, where most of the Soviet troops will be in a center pocket, letting the attrition hit so my troops can just roll them. Rinse and repeat pushing east until they drop. The strong defensive infantry with AT and Artillery prevent their tanks from busting through, and their front will ensure they stay with the front line, rather than having them like garrison or on a defensive line. Of course, it's a good thing the Russian AI never focuses on Heavy Tanks

I often had this vision of playing as the Germans and essentially reenacting the timeline of Wolfenstein. • To start off, have the historical events play out as they would normally by keeping Hitler in power and invading Poland on September 1, 1939. • Steamroll over France and have them conquered by June 22, 1940. • By May 2, 1941, sway Iraq into having an alliance to fight the UK. • On June 22, 1941, commence operation Barbarosa, this time with a heavy focus of logistics (but stop short of conquering Moscow until March 16, 1945). • On August 30, 1941, capture Mga, Leningrad Oblast to sever the last railway to Leningrad. • On September 2, 1941, have a bunch of artillery divisions start showering Leningrad. • On September 14, 1941 have the third and 16th Panzer divisions link up at Lokhvitsa, completing the encirclement of Kiev. • On March 16, 1943, conduct a bombing raid on London. • Pretty much fortify Normandy and make D-day a failure. • On March 8, 1945, start bombing raids on Moscow for a whole week. Then move into conquer Moscow on march 15. • on June 24, 1945 cripple the British Royal Air Force at the battle of Liverpool. • On January 6, 1946, formal plan to conquer the British Isles via Scotland. • On March 11, 1946, conquer Sweden. • On July 4, 1946 have the nuclear bomb research completed. • On August 20, 1946, give assistance to the Japanese Navy in the Leyte Gulf and assist in wiping out more than half of the American fleet. • On December 12, 1946, have Russia capitulate. • On January 3, 1947, launch an amphibious invasion against Canada. • On March 7, 1948, have divisions threaten the Chinese People’s Liberation Army from the north (on a sidenote, don’t conquer Mongolia, because they are left alone in this timeline, oddly enough). • On June 21, 1948, conquer the UK. • on July 8, 1948, conquer China and essentially force Japan to relinquish all their territorial claims whilst making them a puppet. • On December 21, 1948, nuke New York. • On December 22, 1948 conquer Washington DC and puppet the United States. • On October 13, 1949, invade Italy (and pretty much just conquer them whenever). • After that, establish the New World order and work towards making every government on the globe fascist. Visualizing building a dystopia can be fun… 😏

From playing HOI3 for many hours it kinda blows my mind how simple this all seems in HOI4. In HOI3 it takes hours just to pass months in game however here you are able to blast Soviets on 5 speed. I am in no way hating on HOI4 just saying how the series went from quite complicated to rather mainstream in terms of difficulty.

H White HOI3 system was in no way "difficult" it was just clunky, old and overall not good, things didn't become easier, they became much SIMPLER, how it should be.

So you think HOI3 and HOI4 are the same in terms of difficulty? I am not talking about things such as the clunky HOI3 menus. I am talking about the fact that HOI4 is in general an easier game with less depth. For example there is no chain of command in HOI4, you just assign 20 units to one army and be done with it. No army groups, army HQ's, corps HQ's etc. The AI in HOI4 is also horrendous. You can yourself open up your HOI4 game files and look at how ridiculous the system is. There are lines written to make AI use artillery and engineers but it has all been commented out! Then we have the combat. YOu literally draw a line wait two weeks, hit play and that is it. You can take the USSR in about 5 minutes, It is just ridiculous for them to market it as a realistic representation of strategy at the time, there is very little strategy involved, you choose who u want to attack and just right click. I understand why the more casual audience enjoys this game however for me and many others it is the death of a great series.

Yep, it was so disappointing beating the soviets the first time i tried with cheap cavalry and stuka's i never had any tanks. Ironically, the next time i tried with proper divisions it was harder because of supply. HOI3 soviets was a real struggle for me at least until i stumbled on air supply. I still like HOI4 in how quick it is to set up etc. and much better gameplay for navy and air force in my opinion.

Yeah but it’s good how it is now. It’s still fantastically strategic and hoi3 is really for more advanced fans that want to make the nitty gritty decisions like where a specific soldier takes a crap. Lol jk. The only thing I feel could use more strategy in hoi4 is the aircraft structure. I don’t like that I can’t specificallyhave wings attack small regions like I could in hoi3. The whole spam Eastern Poland with mass aircraft is dumb

How to conquer Germany as the Soviet Union with Trotsky in charge. My plan is to immediately take Poland in January of '36 then take Japan before late '38 when Trotsky gets back, but then the challenge is taking all of Germany without the Allies taking any. The two biggest problems are taking Japan before Trotsky comes back (to beat the civil war) and taking Germany for myself. How does that sound?

Cool video. Just wanted to share how I did it. First I didn't give up eastern poland, than took the baltic states before ussr could invade them. Stationed my infatry in a front line along the border. Than had a elite divisons push to different cieties, than move to another city to take it. I quickly took Leningrad to to not allow them to have a fleet in the region and built ships there to establish naval supremacy around britain. The only thing that failed was an attempt to flank Stalingrad from crimea and trap their divisions in the Caucasus, my forces got trapped and only captured Sevastopol.

Try to maintain slightly less divisions than them. They’ll see you as a weakness and they’ll attack you and grind out their equipment. You’ll even the playing field with encirclements and huge amounts of CAS

When i did Barbarossa, I had 367 Infantry Divisions spread along the whole border and 24 Tank Divisions with 20 combat width in the North and South . UdSSR had round about 420 Infantry and I could not get through even with my tank divisons in some places. How the hell did you manage to kick their arse with just 120 divisions?

Simon In my case the mistake was that I built that many units. My factories produced not enough weapons, tanks and other supplies. I defeated the USSR with 80 Infs and 20 Tanks now, because they had full supply and organisation.

A big tactic,I hope it helps you If you attacking in 1941 You should bring at least 50 panzer divisions combat width 30 or 40 !no anti tank template needed,but make sure your logistics are upgraded to 2 or 3 !also use engineers to avoid loss in tanks For infantry you should have at least 150 infantry 30 width or 40 ,put mechanized in infantry division template! Take 1500 close air support,at least lvl 2 1000 tactical bomber ,2500 fighters lvl 2 I know it's hard but you have to do it! Taking your allies is also good choice!but If you have amount of divisions I mentioned,you can win alone within 8 months ! If it's 1942 or 43 You should have 70 panzer divisions 200 infantry divisions ! As many aircrafts as you can! ,make sure to defend western front factories,you should have 30 percent of airforce 90 percent fighters there! I am sure you will win

I've ran into the same problem. Those marshlands screwed me. Plus I started the offensive in like 1943 with outdated equipment which I forgot to research. I had some bad planning. Plus I had 24 divivisions fight the Allies in Nationalist Spain. Which was part of the Axis. I'm gonna redo a game but wait to add invite Spain the the Axis until I'm done with the USSR.

some feedback from me - these guides are mediocre at best. His tank division template is really bad (10 combat width? and only 48 of them by 1942? You should aim for at least 20 width and add some self propelled artillery in them, they just don't have enough firepower) and the way to go with Barbarossa is use armor spearheads to create pockets and encircle the enemy. As you can clearly see his manpower loses are huge, probable equipment too.. The offensive is not going well at all. And where is your air superiority? How do you even call this a tutorial?

OK first of all combat width. The max combat width is 80 so any divisors of 80 will work. 1 2 4 8 10 20 40. The reason people choose a combat width of 20 is because its a happy medium between a division that's too big like 40 which has a insane production cost and division that are too small like 1 2 4 which would have poor combat ability because there too small. I like a combat width for 20 for infantry and 10 for tanks. My own preference. Why? Tanks have a very high production cost and doubling the size of the division to 20 would double the production cost meaning I'd have 50% less divisions. Why is that a problem? Having more divisions means you have the ability to 'swarm' meaning you can take advantage of attacking from multiply angles bonus and if applicable take advantage of a encirclement bonus. Self propelled artillery have very high soft attack which is great! But SPA have terrible breakthrough. My objective to smash into enemy divisions and make them move out of the way. I'm not interested in inflicting causalities. I want them to move so I can create pockets. Finally planes. I made 3000 planes for this scenario and I totally forgot about them. OOOPS From testing I've found that making planes hurts you more then it helps you. You have to make bigger airports that cost civilian IC and import rubber and oil which costs more civilian IC. You have to sacrifice military IC to make the planes which have a high production cost. From my tests I've found that its just better to make more military factories and make more tanks then even bother making planes. BOOM! I am fighting my first ever German offense against Soviet in summer 1943. I declared it right after Soviet declared war upon Finland, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan because vast landscape of Soviet Union terrified me into just sitting at the line and this is an excellent chance to fight Soviet with its force spread out. I have good chance of winning as my industrial capacity outnumbered soviet's capacity according to the intelligence. AND I have an alliance with Spain. Spain is only one that is sending forces to help my front. Only negative thing about it is I have a lot of panzer divisions (all of them light tanks and light tank destroyers because I focused on maximal productivity and surplus on everything and I have towed AT for every infantry and motorized battalion against several soviet medium tanks) and thousands of airplanes so my fuel supply is dwindling, slated to run out within 200 days. I am considering the push for soviet oil in the middle east then sit there to wait for my fuel reserve to build back to full instead going for Moscow as I have no more buildings left for refineries and I used up most of the oil trade to try slow down the fuel consumption (the rest are merely 1 oil so I don't bother wasting civilian factories upon them as I am pouring them into radars, airbases, and forts as my force advances). If you are worried about US and Allied, well, it's nothing to worry about for awhile and perhaps for entire future as I just killed over a million US soldiers while conquering France so US manpower are low at around 500k or less and my Italian ally conquered United Kingdoms (I know! I am surprised too! I tried to get an army to cross to London but Italian won the whole thing before my army could cross) so I am able to focus everything upon east without any western worry. A bit of more details upon United Kingdoms: I sent an whole 24 divisions of marines and infantry into United Kingdoms a year earlier but they were slaughtered as I don't have sufficient air bases as I haven't started upon conquering netherland yet (a bad judgment on my part I know but this is my like seventh or eighth game after buying the game more than a week ago so I am learning a lot about this game).

I did it a bit differently conquer iran and Turkey then set up 3 armies along the Turkish Russian then set up 4 armies along the iranian Russian then out 245 divisions in Europe have a division of about 12 marines go to leningrad 12 paratroopers division near Moscow

Dark Matter it's much more fun to go on division designer and figure it out yourself, but typically the best thing to do is spam artillery edit:you don't need more than 120 divisions to attack the ussr

Dark Matter try crap tons of mechanized and medium tanks and artillery. If you use units with massive soft attack and don’t just use pure infantry you can slaughter them.

Key Tips for Invading Soviet Union: -Pullout as many divisions as you can just like the example in the video or twice as much as it is. -Try to also pull some Panzersthat has Panther and Tiger Tanks to encircle much much division as possible (The Russians will try to replace those encircled units with more units but they are less trained) -Try to push a bit farther than Moscow then Soviets has a high probability of capitulation -Try to max out Maintenance, Field Hospitaland Logistics company, because you didn't want to lose riffles and manpower because it will be a protracted war and will cost some casualties, you need your exhausted division a best stable supply with the use of logistics company to avoid attrition, because Russia is huge as heck - Do not rush USSR, its better to get prepared enough than following what happened in the history (which fails historically speaking). Prepare your troops in the Soviet front and mass produce necessities for your troops, and assure your troops are ready for a long ride. Its better to strike USSR at early 1943 or late 1942 so you have a stable stockpile for your troops

I did a speed run, conquered France in 1937. Captured and held Dover in 1937. Take over yugoslavia and Poland in 1938 and forgot to about the molotov ribbentorn pack so the soviets justified war on me and then later murdered me.

Lol, I don't get it! I have 3x24 divs with the best possible generals attacking on 3 fronts +2x24 divs with medium tanks on the flanks + 20 motorised divisions (all with inf. Equipment 2 and Panzer 3/4s) in May 1940 and my offensive is SLOW. I didn't get a single OVERRUN message! This is my first HoI4 game ever and I had conquered all of Africa and Western Europe but afterall it's on Recruit difficulty! What am I doing wrong?

The Russians never have tanks in 1939; so the earlier the better, or so it seems to me. Once while playing the Bohemian Empire, I had a 40:1 kill ratio because they simply could not pierce my armored divisions.

This honestly threw me off because of all the nations you invaded. However, I do have Poland France Czechs Austria, yugo slavia, etc. Russia broke the pact and invaded Me. I followed the fallbackline plan and have green on my north and south front. The issue is that it's 1941 and they capitulated Manchuria. Are my chances of beating them high??

How??? what do ur divisions look like? I got 200-300 divisions+Nukes, i nuked the whole frontline in 1944(cuz i managed to unlock them very fast) and yet they pump out troops like they have infinite manpower, and im having difficulties even though i nuked the whole frontline and they have no supplies, im also using super heavy tanks(Maus) and even modern tanks, but nothing is working out, i am making progress, but its too slow, im not sure if i need to mae my individual divisions have more manpower. I also obliterated 8.5 million soldiers on their side... Now im stuck in an attrition fight where they cant push, i cant push, ad the only thing i can do is to nuke tem every time i get a nuke or air supperiority. its kinda like hell. I also have barely any supplies going in, so i have to rely on nuking them to keep their supplies from going down, and keep them busy while i build up infrustructure.

ASK : so you invaded Soviets using 68 divisions? I tried in 1941 july using 100 divisions (5 armies) with lots of supplies issues even before Minsk. My div templates are quite basic, 18-20 width with logistic companies. I have no idea my mistake is, any ideas friends? thanks

Same, but in my case I had 84 divisions overall on the eastern front plus 3 divisions of paratroopers. After recent udpates it is impossible to win this barbarossa operation... In the beginning of my recent save even the communist Spain won the Civil war, should have ended the save right there. Had to fight a front in the pyrenees as well later on, because of it. I encircled 37 divisions plus another 17 in the beginning of Soviet's invasion but they easily replaced it... I got until Rostov on the South and part of the Caucasus and I had the crimea; took Leningrad on the north, and in the center reached the gates of Moscow. After that, the winds changed and all went downhill... Guess a lot of commies are doing the udpates now.
