Thank you for sharing your hikes with your furry friend with us. I do the same in Canada and hope to be in this national park in October 2022 plus South Downs.

Another interesting walk which wets the appetite to get out in the forest for real sometime soon.

Another wonderful video. If you had gone to the church, just south of the railway crossing, you would find the WW1 New Zealand graves. Just over the road, in front of the church , in a now empty field, was the New Zealand No1 field hospital from WW1. My wife , a kiwi, laid a wreath on behalf of the British legion there back in the day. Once again, great videos!

Many thanks. I have done another video (Ivy Wood) that also includes a look at both the church & the "war grave" cemetery - scheduled for publishing on KZbin early January, so do watch out for that!

Another really beautiful walk thank you Dave, just about the right temperature to really enjoy it. The Butterfly was ‘Speckled Wood’. I was hoping you were going to come across a ‘Pearl Fritillary’, but alas not that day. I thoroughly enjoyed it, very many thanks indeed.

Thank you Sue. It is certainly a good area for butterflies around there.

A trip down memory lane for me thank you Dave! I lived nearby as a child and can remember all of these places, even that particular gnarly tree which I would call the ‘witches tree’ as a young girl. Brockenhurst has a special magic about it and I hope to return to it soon. Thank you and a happy new year to you and Logan. ❤

Nice gentle walk Dave. I know about the large pony pens near Beaulieu Road station, but I didn’t know they were dotted all over the forest. I guess it makes sense, as they can’t drive them all to that central point. It would near impossible from the extreme edges of the Forest.

I think there must be at least 30 pony pounds located around the Forest. Some large & some small. The smaller ones are used when they just want to catch one or two ponies (or a mare & foal.) The Agisters also use temporary / "pop-up" pounds in some locations.

@@DaveFord That’s interesting. I had no idea there were so many around. I’ll have to walk away from the roads more in future. You always know your way around so well. Are there any published walking guides?

Growing up there in the 50's, I know every inch of that ground. How times go by! The Balma Lawn hotel was not fenced in back then...

Might try this one myself Dave. I’m fascinated by the story of a Brusher Mills - sounds quite a character!

Thanks Ian. Plenty of "Forest" tracks but the presence of the "cycle" track routes make it easy not to get lost!

Another delightful walk with the knowledgeable Dave and the award winning Logan! I was wondering why there was smoke or steam bellowing from the grounds of the hotel, and then we found out! That was a bit of lucky timing.

Thanks Nigel. Yes indeed....you never know what you might come across whilst out on a walk. I certainly wasn't expecting that!
