I think he might have speeded them up a twitch. You can adjust the playback speed via the circular settings icon in the top right-hand corner. I sometimes slow a video down as much as 50% , not just on this channel. It's handy to see better when someone is making/crafting something.

Bike chains have oil on them to help the transmission work better, and run smoother. This means that if you clean it you get all the oil off, causing it to run less smoothly, and you can cause “belt slipping”
