Minor Chords, the SIMPLE Way!

Very useful. I’d like make a request for a video in the future for improvising over typical pop and rock chords. They’re all somewhat different structures but there’s a lot of repetition between the I and IV and V. This lesson will serve well when playing from the minor into the I. But a lot of guitar oriented songs just stick with the three major chords I mentioned. Thanks for all your hard work.

Mediant iii chord has entered the chat. Just clowning around. Love your playing and theory approaches. And admittedly the lonely old iii chord is seldom used in jazz (unless it gets switched to dom7). Keep up the great work.

Maybe the iii chord doesn’t happen a lot, but sitting on a minor chord definitely happens ALL the time!

Well you could think of a major 7 #11 over a minor chord, and that #11 note would be the natural 7 of the minor chord, giving you a minmaj7 sound, which is pretty cool!

@@DavePollack Hi Dave I'm confused by this answer. I'm thinking if you play F Lydian over a 2-5 in C it will give you the major 3rd of the dominant. Over the ii chord you'd get major 6th and obviously it's supposed to be Dorian. Defeats the object of simplification maybe, but I think it's easy enough to have the 3rd of the dominant at the back of your mind somewhere.
