Oh. My. FREAKIN'!!! Guutness... Lawrence Welk could've played this song on his accordion, & I'd still be nuts about it!!! Not to dis Mr. Welk, but... Just 🎶WOOOOOooooowww.🤩

That amazing tenor sax solo was played by German Sax player Libor Sima. Man, I could listen to that every day mainly because I know I've never ever gotten close to that level of brilliance. This tune is so fucking HIP it's totally amazing.

Ladies and gentleman this is a original jazz standart you listen this song in all jazz formato
@daverblack6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I knew it was a standard, it's just such a great version of it :)
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_outАй бұрын
@@daverblack words words words. It's not a "traditional" Broadway tune, Great American Songbook standard, but then again neither are Take 5 Giant Steps or All Blues. It's a newer standard, yes a standard, meaning it's on every pickup and casuals band's song list (like "the Chicken" and "lovely day" and "Superstitions".) and you'd better be able to play it if they call it.

Les is the greatest! Didn't Charlie Parker play in one of his bands?? Great tenor and trumpet solo!

Nobody will ever match the original with less, Eddie and Benny. It’s just not possible to duplicate that.
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_outАй бұрын
they gave it a good shot though. props. Even without Eddie, Benny, Jefferson on drums and Leroy Vinegar on bass it grooves.

@Memeicall8 жыл бұрын
That sax solo was fire. The trumpet solo was okay. And the trombone solo was great, except it didn't really fit the kind of music this is. He plays a mixture of Jazz and Funk... It's called junk

He was born September 23, 1935. He turned down an offer to play with Cannonball so he could form hos own trio. First paid job 1959. Never played with Parker. Born on same day as Coltrane.

@daverblack I'd Love to buy a CD but it's just not available in any incarnation. All the tunes are as fantastic as this one. From watching them, I remember that by tune # 3 or so the audience started applauding wildly as soon as the sax player put the instrument to his lips. The Bass player does a solo in Sunny that is Very special. Well, If I come across it, I'll post it and drop another comment. Thanks for the reply :)... Come ON Les! Sell me the DVD or post this concert !

alguien me dice como improvisar en esta canción?
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_outАй бұрын
It's a 2 chord funk blues I7 to IV7 ( F7 to Bb7) with a 3 chord turnaround Db Eb F Listen to the original version with the composer Eddie Harris on sax Learn to sing all his riffs , however many times the task requires. . They are short lines, with a lot of space between. And they are "bad" (very very good) Then find the notes on your instrument. Play the musical phrases slowly enough that you can play them perfectly. Play along the record about 1000 times, and change up the order of the notes. Watch a tutorial on blues scales, and how to apply them. . Practice another 1000 hours. Play along with the record. Then go to a session and call the tune and play it with a band. NOW YOU CAN IMPROVISE ON THIS SONG. You can play any combination of notes from a pentatonic F blues scale, and a d minor blues scale to start. Avoid the E natural. Vary using either the A natural and Ab. Learn some blues riffs. Simple funk riffs. After that you have to take lessons or learn some fancier approaches from the billion jazz vids that have come out in the last 10 years in youtube. How to improvise on this song? Have you learned much in 10 years? I ask myself that.

What's with the melody here? They're messing with it--leaving out notes and playing way staccato for the style. Yeah, Les is on electric piano, but not happening.
@buckwhidden1Ай бұрын
I think this is after Les had his stroke so he isn’t jamming as much.
