Super Mario World: Secrets, Tips, & Tricks Part 1

OK, 1st let me say that I'm an asshair away from being 52 years old next month. My 2 boys now 32 and 30 had a Nintendo back in 1992 and I used to play it all night after I got them to sleep. I had my son install Super MarioWorld on my Android and it killed my battery. $200.00 ins deductible later mama decided to buy herself a Nintendo Switch and all the fixins!! I'd forgotten how much fun this game is. I bought 2 of the new ones and have yet to play. I want to finish this 1st. They have so many free dl's. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR VIDEO. Thank you for taking the time. I haven't watched part 2 yet but I will. I ended up going down to Vanilla Dome 1 to grab a cape and the fire flower then it's an easy out up the pink blocks and vine to the key. Once I've gotten to the halfway mark in VS2, I then enter with the fire flower (and a feather backup) to kill off all of the little bastages in the tunnels and it kills all the Spiny's near the P. That way my entire route is enemy free until the bombs drop. That works better for me with crappy hand eye coordination!! OMW! I have 2 severe forms of Autonomic Dysfunction and the constant fight or flight adrenaline rushes have sent me into a full blown MCAS attack. Huge rash all over my body from the adrenaline surges. Had to take Antihistamines and Steroids. Two days of added stress non related as well. I was getting too aggravated with constantly going down to Donut Plains 1 to collect all the 5 lives in the blue tunnel (via hundreds of coins while flying). That shit took forever for 30 to 45 of them. Seriously, it takes about 3 of the 4 minutes to collect all the coins but I can fly like pro. Freaked me out when he flew backward once. I don't know how I did that one. I remember you asking for tricks not listed. That's a good one if you're still at lower levels. You'll leave with 2 capes, Yoshi and 5, 1 ups each time. Then from halfway point if is rinse and repeat until your hands hurt from holding the controller and making Mario fly the entire length without descending too low. I wish I could put a video up for you. It's pretty cool actually!! Thanks again. Sorry about the diatribe but I'm too old to speak in 142 characters of less!!

If you guys want to better your flying skills, there’s a level. And it’s actually the one right after the first castle, well one of the pipes leads to like this massive big area. And there’s a sign that explains how to fly and it gives like an open area to just practice flying. A bonus, is that there’s a whole bunch of coins to rack up one ups early on in the game. I found this area and trick when I was younger. I can’t remember the pipe it was in but you just have to do trial and error to find for yourself.

also when you leave the area, the entrance pipe is immediately to the left, so you can go back in to get another cape. it's also immediately after the mid-point, so you can enter the level, play to the midpoint, get the capes/coins, hit start/select to leave, and every time you return, it's only one screen away from the capes.

Yeah! I practiced flying a LOT in that area as a kid trying to get all the coins lol...so I never had too much trouble getting those 9 life shrooms...you basically just have to fly high enough to be close to the ceiling so as to avoid those pacman looking fireballs haha

I use that level to bank tons of lives to Forest of Illusion 1 where you can get like 14 lives in one shot

My go to for 1ups is Forest of Illusion 1. Beat the stage, go back, exit, then restart from the checkpoint. Right before there 3 wigglers you can bounce off of. Make sure you have a cape so you can fall slowly. If you go just enough off screen you can reset 1 or 2 and continue to rack up points and 1ups if you keep bouncing on them. Also, the symbols begin to glitch. Good way maximize your lives and your score. Oh, and if you're running low on time you can simply exit the stage if you've beaten it. Then go back and do it again.

Gosh back in the days and I mean like 90's you weren't able to lookup online to find secrets - you'd have to get the nintendo magazine, discover yourself or hear gossip through your friends - now it's all at the fingertip or there are guides - nice to see the new generation is playin Super Mario World, it really is the best mario SNES game

I had no idea it was possible to play the fortresses after beating. Thank you! Another tip I always use...in Larry's Castle, you can hop one of the two floating brown blocks (you will see them in video at 13:01) and wait for the platform to come back around. You don't have to ride it the whole time, you just have to jump on one of the blocks and wait...avoid all of the obstacles. That along with riding it down to the halfway hash makes it very easy level.

If you stand to the left of the guessing game blocks and hit the very edge with the tip of the cape it will work everytime. Just hit them left to right.

My favorite way to get multiple 1ups is in Forest if Illusion 1. At the point where there's a box with a choice of prizes; time it just right to get the star then start running forward. There are so many enemies ahead that you can easily acquire 15-25 1ups

At 6:25, the bonus level, you can use your cape to trigger each box from the left side and it’ll allow you to get a 1-up every time until you reach the top.

Another great place to get a ton of 1 and 3 ups is on the 1st level of forest of illusions, you get to the middle of the level and hit the box to get a star and then kill the enemys and they start to turn into 1 ups and catapillars turn to 3 ups. Its my go to!

I have farmed for life with your "be-all end-all" method, but I prefer using forest of illusion 1 with the invincibility star. so much of an easier set up (the box with the rotating goodies is right by the checkpoint) then just run and let the enemies fall on you, and there's a bunch of those caterpillar things that give you 2up

In the 1up rooms you gotta go from first to third and hit them with the very very tip of the cape and if you do the first two you can just jump into the third, works every time

Also, an easier way to get the 9 one ups in the fortress, is to do a spin jump with the cape. You will bounce off of the lava bubbles. I find it much much easier. (Not a regular spin jump, a run and spin jump so you go higher)

I know this is late, but you can also spin jump so that the cape hits de bottom left corner of those blocks and it will always turn it into a green block, so you will always get 1-ups from those

Two end tips. You can use the scroll tip in Vanilla Fortress too. In Larry’s Castle....you can skip at least 50% of the block ride with cape. Make a running start, make sure to get the block going, and then fly to the top where brown blocks and balls/chains are. Rest up there and wait for the block snake the catch up.

For the guessing game 1 ups, you can get every one every time if you have the feather. Start on the left and lightly jump up and hit the question mark block on its left side with your Cape then repeat on the middle block then the right block. Do this in this order on each block all the way up and you'll get the 1up on each of them every time

Here's another way to get perfect five 1ups in the guessing game: have a cape and spin jump, catching the edge of each "?" box from left to right (or 1-3). If you do it right, you'll get a 1up *every single time!*

You missed one of the best one up sections in the game. I'm not sure exactly which level it is, but in a Forest of Illusion the second or third level, once you get to the halfway point you can collect the star and then kill all the enemies in the upper right hand corner of the stage, for something like fifteen or Twenty One UPS. Then you can start select out of the stage come back at the halfway point and repeat it. You can fill up to 99 guys after two or three runs through it. I don't remember exactly which stage it is, but if I remember or next time I play I will come back and revise this message...

The more you go down, you can't fly back up so stay up high if you're trying to cover a lot of ground or skip a part you don't want to go through.

You'll sail up and down in the air as you hit B multiple times. Experiment with the speed of hitting the B button to fly in some easy levels so you can develop a rhythm you like.

Dude, on the “guessing game” at 6:20 you don’t really have to guess, and you can make them all 1 ups if you have a cape. Instead of hitting them from underneath the normal way, you jump up to the left of them and hit them with your cape. You can go from left to right doing that on each one and it works every time. Just sayin. I haven’t played the game in years but somehow I remembered that. Figured I’d let you know that, anyway. You should check it out. I promise it works. You’ll be amazed!

In the forest level auto scroller level you can setup you just spam the twirl command to kick a turtle shell up and the auto scroll just pushes you and it forward resulting in infinite lives collection, i max out my lives counter with that method which I think is faster then entering and exiting super secret stage.

about getting lives cool way to get lives you show up for us, but i have one just good as your go to first course of Forest and keep going through the course till you get the checkpoint saver. after this you will see that block where u can choose between murshroom, cape, flower or star. you just get the star and go killing all enemies you can in a line of running, you can get like 18-20 lifes in just one line. the good point of this trick is after you finish both ways of this course you go once again and keep the checkpoint. Whenever you start your game and hit this course you'll start at the checkpoint and can make like 3 runs, 2 taking lives (giving something about 35 lives) and get a cape for your adventure. best way for me, your way is good but a little long still on guys, this game rules

To get 1-ups I use Forrest Illusion 1. What I do is hit the half way mark, then on the next platform I get rid of the Koopa Troopa and then hit the box right as the flower pops up as this will allow the star to cycle next, then I grab the star when it appears, and hit all enemies until right before the end of the game. Finally I exit the game, without finishing the level, and repeat as often as I want because the game will always take me back to the halfway mark.

Go for the 3 wigglers before the checkpoint. Have the stage beat, go back to the checkpoint, exit, and you can restart from there. You also need a cape. The rotating item box is nearby if you need one. Now go back to the 3 wigglers and bounce off their heads. Using the cape you can slowly go off screen just enough to reset 1 or 2 and land on their head again once they've reset. You wanna time it so you bounce, float off off screen just enough to reset them but don't float too far. Just a hair so it's enough to reset them and continue landing and bouncing on their heads. Your points and lives will soon rack up. If you run low on time you can exit the stage with it being beat and restart from the nearby checkpoint again. It's also neat seeing the symbols glitch as your lives rack up.

I find the easiest way to get lives easy and quickly is in the 1st level to the right off yoshi's house at the start, down the pipe into the cave with yoshi, jump of his back and hit the flying block with the 1up , exit and literally go back in through the same pipe to the left when you exit. Repeat until the time is up and redo the level again to get more. Time everything right eg hitting the block with the 1up ,entering and exiting the pipe and watch the 1up counter go. Very very easy and quick

I beat this game 100% and I was just looking for extra reasons to keep finding value in it so I didn’t have to burn it in this month’s CVS parking-lot arson ritual, items are returned to the fire as sacrifice to Ben Carson. I don’t need his feet appearing in my dreams again sir!. Gosh man, don’t you have any respect for people other than yourself? You make me sick, I’m literally foaming at the mouth, but I can’t tell, that might just be a severe lack of potassium. But THATS NOT THE POINT YOU FILTHY COMMUNIST. I’m seething. "25 secrets in super Mario world" from one of the many gaming journalist sites showed "secrets" literally everyone who has touched the game new, but not "secret" enough for the wings to be included, and then ironically yours, which isn't labeled thusly had several secrets I didn't know about, but what I wanted wasn't secret enough to make the list, just found that funny and I thought some of you might too, anyway I'm gonna stop being vague and just search for blue Yoshi wings, thanks for the awesome secrets I wasn't looking for =)
