When I was a teen, I began having anxiety so bad I couldn’t sleep. I would turn on QVC and set my tv on a timer so I could fall asleep with kind voices in the background. My favorite was the Gold Rush specials when they would dress up in 1840’s costumes, and the Diamonique specials were fun. And it was neat when they had Christmas in July sales! Such a cool blast from the past.

Love this. I agree. Infomercials are so therapeutic for me, too. I play the Magic Bullet infomercial when I feel anxious or Temptations presentations - and I feel so much better. Also - when my 24 year old daughter was a baby, she had colic and sleeping issues for a long time - That’s when I discovered JTV - I’d rock her and I’d watch the pretty jewelry while I soothed her - and it soothed her, too.

My mom used to work at QVC in quality and she also screened on air calls for a time (probably during this timeframe) She sometimes would volunteer to pull the lottery balls and would wave and say hi to me and our family dog live on air. Also my mom became friends with different celebs like Richard Simmons and Joan Rivers . Joan called me by my name and let me hold her little dog. I was too young to know how iconic she was but it's a memory I'll always cherish. Thanks for sharing this🙏

My mom absolutely loved QVC, from the Grandma Cakes, Cheryl’s cookies, Juniors cheesecake, and so many other sweets, household items, and Valerie Parr items! I so miss the days of her calling me up and having me rush to turn on QVC because she wanted my opinion on a certain item or wanting to know if I wanted something, or just watching it together or by phone. So many memories of QVC with her. ❤

My grandmother was a diehard QVC viewer and customer. She had one of those big screen TV’s from the 90’s, that had the doors that close over the screen. When she died, we brought her TV to our house. To our surprise, when we turned on the TV, we could see QVC faintly in the background of every channel. It was like etched in time on loop showing the same product and phone number. We laughed, reminisced, and remembered her and how much she enjoyed QVC. She made sure her TV would never show any other channel clearly 😂. The TV stayed this way for a few years and eventually burned out.

When QVC was a lot "calmer". Now there's a lot of antics going on, people running around the set, making goofy comments and acting crazy. Back then it was a much more relaxed presentation. Oh well - gotta get noticed and go viral these days since cable is pretty much dead.

It's funny that my mom would watch QVC from time to time, and rarely buy anything, but she's ordering stuff online all the time now. I can't be the only one who as a kid would glance at QVC and think "WHERE ARE THE TOYS?!". I'd also be screaming in my head, "SHOW ME DINOSAUR BOOKS!", but that's probably unique to me. Never did see any dinosaur stuff on QVC.
