I'm still curious about Huntsman slings running amok in your house.
@stanleyhyde85292 жыл бұрын
I forgot about that. There's got to be at least one that's survived the cellar spider death zone and gotten somewhere it could be the biggest threat. He's going to walk in the room one day and there's going to be a random hand sized spider just chilling on the wall. Good times.

I think it’s the part where a biologist specializing in arachnids explained the one time she was really in trouble. A huntsman got multiple bites on her thumb. I’d rather risk big fangs and weak venom than the other way around.

I have seen my sons tarantula Luni ( a Grammostola Rosea ) molt and it's a fascinating experience ( she lived with me then for a couple of years ). But I have never caught her making her bed and flipping over on her back either. I found her on her back and the first time it happened I thought she was dead, but she wasn't! The moulting took time and the harding process took time too! She stopped eating before and didn't eat for a time afterwards either. She could be fussy with food even normally too but she always was in a good condition and she loved her waterbowl and she drank regularly. Luni lives with my son now and she is doing well and thriving! She doesn't need much but she keept me company and she was almost out all the time and didn't go and hide in her little house ( a cracked claypot ) very often! She was very calm and kind but she could also be lighting fast when she wanted! Thank you dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady for yet another fantastic video 📹 ❤! Susanne

Hello Dave and Camera Lady. I hope this finds you both well. For some reason I find moulting videos stressful. They are fascinating and interesting to watch, however, the spider seems so vulnerable. I just imagine it is not their favorite thing to do. It has to be a scary time for them and I just can’t stand it when my critters are afraid of something. Perhaps I tend to anthropomorphise animals a bit more than I should. With such beautiful moults you don’t need a spider made out of wool. 😂. Thank you for the interesting video. This is one of my favourite spiders. So huge, so pretty. Well, I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay safe and take care. 🌖🤠🙂😁❤️💖💋

Our female barking spider lays a web we call mist when she malts, or male lays fine lightning bolts in his malt mat, she takes about 8 weeks to harden she doesn't move more than an inch in that time but when she ready to eat she taps the tank to let you know it's game on again. She the size of a dinner plate.

Sorry, have to say that! I don´t wanna blame any other guys who presenting their spider videos on YT. But this is exactly the reason why I really love Dave´s videos! He treats these creatures with lots of respect. There is absolutely no reason to force them from one hand to the other and stuff like this. Independet from the risk that you got bitten and drop the spider on the floor, which is a reflex than! Actually all animals should be treated like that. Information and observation is so much more. Great video again, Dave.

I used to keep molts of separate individual species and I would pin them on a styrofoam board and keep track of their progress in size. It was really amazing. My little T. Blondi (approx 2") just molted this past weekend. Unfortunately part of her molt ( the underside abdomen part ) remained attached to the top of her abdomen. I tried to use my tongs to see if I could remove it and she weakly turned around and threw up her best threat posture so I decided to just leave her and hope it comes off at the next molt.

I think Acanthoscurria geniculata is in my top 5 tarantulas. I recommend them as beginner spiders, with the caveat that they aren't very handleable, and get a lot of pushback on it. They will always eat, they grow fast, they are very hardy, they're gorgeous with that felt-looking black carapace. I have one I can actually handle, but I don't recommend people try it until you can reliably read a spiders body language.

I've witnessed a fair share of molts as well. Most of the time, they tend to occur at night or while I'm away at work, but I've been able to see the full process on a couple of occasions. Always a pleasant sight to wake up or come home to a freshly molted spider. In all my years of keeping Ts so far (Nearly 14 now), I've only witnessed the flipping back over once. It was with my G. rosea. I was just peeking at the right time. Truly fascinating to observe. Fun fact! The species where they reside with Uber destructive ants, like Brazil, kick hairs on their molting mat so the ants can’t hurt them while they’re so vulnerable. Yay urticating hairs! If I’m not mistaken, I remember another video mentioning that they use urticating hairs on their web in general to help keep ants and such away from their burrows. Maybe not as much as molting mats. They are really easy to see on those but not as easy looking at their burrow webbing. I wonder if the captive bred variety would stop doing it after a couple hundred years or so because they never see the ants anymore… Thanks for another great look at a beautiful t!
